Roussel started the drive by bang to pace the Cajun victory. The regular quarterback had missed several games with an injured ankle and was used sparingly last week.

He saw most of the early action this week, however and moved the team effectively. Halftime Edge Using fine offensive and defensive line play, the Ragin' Cajuns jumped off to a 21-7 halitime edge, scoring twice in; four minutes in the second quarter after a scoreless first period. Starting on their own 14 yard line late in the first quarter, the Bulldogs moved 86 yards in 13 plays for the first tally of the night. Barton moved across from the four for the first tally and Pendergraft booted his first extra point to put the Cajuns in the lead 7-0 with 14:52 left in the half. Bailon opened the drive from deep in Cajun territory, ripping for three yards at right tackle.

Roussel rolled round left end for 11 more and a first down and the Bulldogs were in business. Roussel and Barton then teamed up on a pass play for i 16 more. Henry lost five on draw, but Roussel gained itj back with a completion tO Nelson Schexnayder for 11. The senior quarterback again attempted left end for no gain and threw incomplete to Tom Hauser before hitting tight end Baron Babineaux for 20 yards and a first down at the St. Norbert 26 yard line.

Quarter Ends Jim Kemp gained two yards off tackle and Henry hit the right side for three as the first quarter came to an end. It took the Cajuns only twoj plays to move the final 21 yards to paydirt. as Roussel attempted to hit Ron English on a pass at the four. The pitch fell incomplete but St. Norbert was called for interference, giving the Bulldogs first and goal at the four.

Barton slammed off tackle for the score on the next play. St. Norbert was unable to move after the kickoff and Southwestern regained possession on its own 34 yard line and the Bulldogs moved 66 yards in 6 plavs to move ahead 14-0 with 11:17 left in the half. 17-Yard Pass Barton and Roussel again teamed to get the drive rolling as the tailback gained ten yards at left end and Roussel connected with Leroy Boudrcaux on a 17 yard pass for another By J.C. HATCHER Advertiser Sports Editor The University of South-western Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns evened their overall football record at 4-4 here last night with a convincing 48 37, triumph over St.

Norbert College of Wisconsin. A packed house showed up for the beginning of the new interstate rivalry between the Cajuns and the Knights of the North Country. The Southwestern offensive was honed to perfection and the Bulldog defensive regulars performed admirably before leaving the contest early in the second half. USL built up a 21 7 halftime lead and led by 35-15 at the end of three quarters before the Knights rallied for 22 points against the USL defensive reserves in the final period. Scoring Came The Southwestern scoring came in various and sundry ways as the Bulldogs utilized -the quick tally as well as a grind em out offense.

Roland Henry raced 72 yards for a Cajun score and Quar terback George Roussel passed 51 yards to split end Reggie Dupre for another. (AP) Quarterback Terry Bradshaw sneaked the final yard Saturday night with time running out to give Louisiana Tech a victory over Southeastern Louisiana. The come-from-behind victory clinched at least a tie for the Gulf States Conference football crown for the Bulldogs. An SLC fumble, recovered by David Wilkins for Tech, snuffed out the Lions' bid for a clinching touchdown with 3:52 left in the final period and then Bradshaw went to work, driving 'lis eighth-ranked Bulldogs quickly downfield for the go ahead touchdown. Bradshaw completed passes of 22 and 23 yards, then ran 15 yards to move the ball to the SLC 30 to get the Bulldogs in scoring range. The blond bomber was given a rough time earlier by SLC's secondary. He threw five interceptions, one less than his total for five earlier games. SLC's Leslie Hymel turned the first interception into a touchdown, going 18 yards to pay-dirt. It put the Lions ahead 7-0 after Roy Hurd's extra point kick and a few minutes later SLC made it 14-0 on quarterback Clell Rossetti's four-yard run. Johnny Daigle recovered a Tech fumble to set up the Ros-setti touchdown.

Bradshaw got cranking then, running and passing the Bulldogs to three touchdowns. He scored twice himself on runs of 3 and 16 yards and hurled a 41-yard touchdown strike to Tommy Spinks to give Tech a 19-17 halftime lead. SLC forged ahead in the fourth period when Darrell Beard, who wound up as the game's top rusher with 135 yards, dove one yard for a touchdown. SLC was stopped three times at the Tech one-yard line in the fourth period. Bradshaw wound up completing 17 of 32 passes for 293 yards.

He netted 13 yards with his' running but was thrown for leng losses several times. SLC's five interceptions gave the Lions a season total of 26, breaking the GSC record for a single season. The Lions also recovered four Tech fumbles. Tech is 4-0 in the GSC and Former Editor Is Named To ABA Post yards out early in the fourth period. DALLAS, Tex. Lee L. Meade, one time snorts editor of the Daily Advertiser, has been named assistant manager of the Dallas Chaparrels of the American Basketball Association. He was named to the post November 15. Meade, 41.
