Telephone Engineer Funeral services for Clifford Mandeville Herbert, 82, who retired in 1935 from the engineering department of the New York Telephone Company, with which he had been associated 36 years, were held last night at the Fairchild Chapel, 951 Atlantic Ave. Burial takes place today in Heightstown, N.

J. Mr. Herbert, who lived at 385 Sterling Place, died Wednesday from injuries suffered in a fall at his home. He was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and was brought to the United States as a child by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

Norman Livingston Herbert. Upon attaining majority he became a citizen of this country. He was a member of the old Central Congregational Church when the Rev. Dr. S.

Parkes Cadman was pastor, and later was member of the board of Hugo K. Schaaf, Show Manager Hugo K. Schaaf, 52, of 88-22 160th Jamaica, manager of the Theatre Guild's national touring company of "Oklahoma," died yesterday in Chicago of a heart attack. A native of Manhattan, Mr. Schaaf had been in show ness for three decades.

Before joining the Theatre Guild organization he served as theater manager and general manager for Mark Klaw and as company manager for, Jed Harris, am Grisman and Anthony Brady Farrell. He wife, Mrs. 'Henrietta Schaaf, and a daughter, deacons of the Cadman Memorial Church. He was a charter member of the Telephone Pioneers and also belonged to the Kings County Grand Jurors Association. On Sept.

15, he and his wife, Mrs. Louise Imlay Herbert, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. Also surviving are a son, Robert Imlay Herbert of Greenvale, a Brooklyn lawyer, and two sisters. Mrs. George Cole of Plainfield, N.
