and Mrs. S. N. Johnston, 734 Buffalo Street, and a student at the University of Boston, has been elected a delegate to the Kappa Kappa Gamma convention to be held at the Seigniory Club, New Montebello, Quebec, June 23 to 30.. Miss Johnston is Standards Chairman of the Sorority.

Women of Moose Hold All-Day Quilting and Dinner. The Women of the Moose met on Wednesday afternoon Moose Hall and quilted. 6 o'clock a pancake supper was served to 45 members and friends. The regular business meeting lowed with Mrs. Rose Karns in charge.

Pinochle was played and prizes won by Miss Katharine Marsh, Mrs. Nettie Cox, Mrs. James Orlando, Joseph Wurdach, Leroy Hovis and Mr. Balksteadt. The committee in crarge was composed of Mrs.

Max Pyle, Mrs. Harold Cramer, Mrs. Walter Phillips and Miss Marsh. The next meeting will be held on April with quilting the afternoon and a tureen supper in evening. Birthday Dinner Held by Members of Swastika Circle.

The members of the Swastika Circle held a delightful birthday dinner OD Friday evening at the home of Mrs. Walter McDaniel, Prospect Park, honoring Mrs. McDaniel and Mrs. J. P.

Shook, two of the members whose birthday anniversaries it was. The table attractively decorated in a color a arrangement of yellow and white with the centerpiece being Easter lilies and dogwood. The favors were miniature Easter baskets filled with candy eggs. Mrs. McDaniel and Mrs.

Shook received many lovely handkerchiefs. Ruth Authenreith's Orchestra to Play for Night Club Tonight. Ruth Authenreith and her Orchestra, of Youngstown, 0., will play for another of the ever popular Night Clubs at the Franklin Club tonight. Dancing will begin at 10 o'clock and those desiring dinner reservations should make them early. At the one held two weeks ago there was attendance of about 100 members and their guests and it proved so delightful that Richard Lamberton, chairman the Entertainment Committee, planned another for tonight.

Miss Virginia McFarland Initiated Into Sorority. Philathea Missionary Society to Meet Monday Evening at Church. Miss Virginia McFarland, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.

W. McFarland, 409 Elk Street, a student sat Indiana State Teachers College, has been initiated into the Delta Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Gau Sorority. At the progressive luncheon held on Feb. 15 Miss McFarland made the response to the greeting of new sisters of the sorority. The monthly meeting the Philathea Missionary Society of the First Methodist Episcopal Church will be held in the church parlors Monday evening at 7:30 o'clock.

Mrs. C. S. Brakeman will have charge of the devotionals; Mrs. James Boyersmith, program, and Miss Ella Lutton, Engagement of Miss Cowles to A.

GOOD WEATHER SPURS CURB MARKET BUYING A score or more of Venango County farmers and marketers opened their stands at the Franklin curb market this morning in the first large turnout of produce of the spring season. The stands had a good patronage as the marketers were welcomed back to their old places. During the winter, Saturdays have found from one to five stands in operation at the curb on Twelfth Street, but during the most severe weather, none appeared. Pleasant weather today found both marketers and patrons turning out in the largest numbers since last fall.

Terrill arrived Thursday from Keystone Heights, where they spent the winter, and were guests of the latter's daughter, Mrs. D. M. Yokes. They have gone to their home at Conneaut Lake Park for the summer.

RECENT DEATHS. bronchial died in the Chester County Hospital, West Chester, March 15. He was a former resident of Franklin and a son of the late Dr. Stephen and Catherine Sloan Bredin, who came to Franklin about 1885 when Dr. Bredin took over the medical practice of Dr.

Snowden. Mr. Bredin is survived by his wife and two sisters, Misses Christine and Katharine Bredin. A brother, Rae Sloan Bredin, an artist of New Hope, died two years ago. Bredin was born in Butler, Pa.

When be was 14 years old, he enItered Cornell University and later took a course in chemistry at Columbia University to aid him in his work in the oil fields. He married Sarah B. Bredin in 1907, and they lived at their farm, "Meadowcroft" near Westtown, attending Westtown School Friends' meeting. For many years the deceased was a member of the Thornbury, Delaware County, Young Friends' Association. George Sloan Bredin.

After a long illness, terminating in George Sloan Mrs. William Doyle. Mrs. William Doyle, of Stoneboro, died at her home Friday afternoon following an illness of two years. She is survived by her husband and two daughters: Mrs.

Edward Leathers, of Stoneboro, and Mrs. Fred Emerson, of Maples, N. Y. Funeral services will be held Monday at the home. Mrs.

Doyle is a sister-in-law of Mrs. H. H. Campbell, of this city. ELKS WILL ATTEND ST.

JOHN'S SERVICES ON SUNDAY EVENING Franklin Lodge of Elks will attend the services of St. John's Episcopal Church tomorrow evening, in loving memory of the Very Rev. Martin Aigner, D. late rector of the church, and chaplain of the lodge for many years. At the same time they will observe their 47th anniversary of the institution of the lodge here in March, 1889.

Archdeacon Foreman, of the Erie diocese, will be in charge of the service. For many years it has been the custom of the Elks to observe their anniversary attending divine worship, and it is hoped that the attendance this year will be especially large- a tribute to the life and work of Dr. Aigner, whose interest in all the worthwhile things of this community WAS so notable. The evening offering will go to the Red Cross relief fund. OLDEST CHIMPANZEE DEAD.

SYDNEY, N. S. W. -UP--Casey believed to be the oldest chimpanzee in captivity, died at the Taronga Park zoo here at the age of 27. Casey was the most famous monkey in Australia and his antics so amused visitors that he was estimated to be worth at least $2,500 a year to the zoo.

Phone 457 from 8 m. to DOCTOR, NURSE TALK TO JUNIOR HI SCHOOL The pupils of the Rocky Grove Junior High School were profitably entertained and instructed in the regular assembly period on Friday afternoon by two enjoyable vocational guidance speakers.

Dr. D. C. Blanchard gave a fine talk on doctoring -the qualifications and disadvantages but above all the worthwhile life it involves. Miss Margaret Shannon, surgical nurse at the Franklin Hospital, told of the requirements, time involved, subjects to study in high school to ft oneself for entering the profession.

Miss Shannon endeared herself to the pupils in the short time allotted to her for her talk. The junior high school orchestra furnished music for the occasion. GOOD SAMARITANS MEET. The usually enjoyable quarterly tureen dinner of the Good Samaritan class was held Friday evening in the Evangelical Church basement. Following the supper a program was presented by Mrs.

Riley Adams and Mrs. Fred Irwin. A Bible contest was conducted by Mrs. Adame and proved highly educational. Mrs.

Irwin conducted an interesting flower game and presented prizes to Mrs. Ethel Trow, and Mrs. W. G. Firster.

Mrs. Trow pleased a vocal solo. Mrs. Estella McClintock had charge of the devotionals and Mrs. Lester Hepner of the business session.

For the April meeting Mrs. A. B. Heckard, Mrs. A.

B. Chapin, Mrs. George Haun and Mrs. Bert Dunmire were named the refreshment committee and Mrs. Lloyd Flickner and Mrs.

A. F. Barnes, entertainment. The visIting committee will be Mrs. George Oesau and Mrs.

P. R. Rice. Mrs. C.

L. Hart has, been named chairman of the committee in charge of the birthday dinner party in June and all members of the class whose anniversaries occur during the second quarter are asked to report to Mrs. Hart. It was also decided to observe DolDay in October. COMMUNITY BRIEFS.
