WASHINGTON, June 23. Price Administrator Prentiss M. Brown today ordered an increase in allowable retail prices of rice, pickles, relishes, and certain canned fruits and vegetables to restore in part price reductions following President Roosevelt's "hold-the-llne" order. Not affected by the order are canned peaches, pears, pineapples, fruit cocktail, corn, peas, green and wax beans, tomatoes and tomato juice. All other canned fruits and vegetables will show an increase in price of one to two cents a large can over the current price, Ol'A said.

Brown's action followed protests made last week by retailers and wholesalers that price reductions on these foods were too sharp in comparison with prices of other foods and should be restored. OPA emphasized that while the new-order Increases prices pf the item involved, it does not restore prices to the higher schedules prevailing before April S. the date of the "hold-the-line'' order.
