I Sainte-Marie continues to give concerts both large and small, having performed with her four-piece electronic band for 20,000 people last summer at Big Sky in Alberta, as well as for tiny reserves and fly-in communities across Canada. Her work reflects her lifelong wish to empower creative peoples multi-faceted individual potential because we need fresh alternative ideas from every direction students, artists, women, indigenous hundreds of artists including Elvis Presley, Indigo Girls, Barbara Streisand, Chet Atkins, Donovan, Glen Campbell, Neil Diamond and Janis Joplin. She is best known for Universal Soldier, Until Its Time for You to Go, Up Where We Belong, and Hes An Indian Cowboy in the Rodeo. Having written Universal Soldier, which became an anthem of the 1960s peace movement, she was absent from the feass protest marches in favor of shedding her unique light on Indian rights and environmental issues, which she continues to do today, because nobodys covering those bases.

Her musicianship is a reflection of her curiosity about sound. She strings and tunes her 35 tar in all sorts of unusual ways and plays a mouth-bow, which relies on harmonics and a remarkable ear. Today her digital home studied is as personal and -hands-on for her "as a guitar was in the 1960s. Sainte-Marie was bom on a reservation in Saskatchewan. She received her PhD in fine arts from the University of Massachusetts, holds a degree in philosophy, and in teaching.

These combined interests are clearly evident in her music, her visual artworks, her writing, and her life. Her electronic paintings on her Macintosh computer have been exhibited in both muse-jims and galleries as well as online. In March she was inducted into the Canadian music industrys Juno Hall of Fame.
