GIVE THANKS! My name is Reverend Les Crane and I am the owner of Mendo Spiritual Remedies in Laytonville. I have been open for about a year and a half, and have continued to stay open even when UMCC and Compassionate Caregivers closed their doors. I've seen a lot of patients come to my store from Ukiah.

Some were so happy to see that I was open, they were in tears. Others were so sick they could not even drive a car, and had 'to rely on someone else to bring them. We live in the United States of America. Why is it, that nine years after we passed this law, we still can't walk into a drug store and get our medicine-the medicine God created, not the medicines that man has created-? Now, here in Ukiah, the officials that were voted in by the people, that are paid by the people, are telling me that what you voted for does not count. You can't have God's medicine.

How can I call it God's medicine? I do not believe it was God's intent, when he created man, for there to be pharmacies here. Everything you and I need is in the woods. No government has the right to make me take harmful chemicals that are dangerous to my health when my God gave me Peojtfo, something else. "The fruit thereof shall be for meat and leaf thereof for medicine." -Ezekiel chapter 47, verse 12 I have been doing some checking, and it is against the law for somebody that works for the State of California to go against any law that the people have voted in favor of. In order to have an urgent ordinance, don't you need to have an urgent problem? My question to the, members of City Council, to the Mayor, and to the people of Ukiah-what is the urgent problem? I bet I can come up with countless reasons why we have an urgent problem with alcohol.

But nobody wants to talk about that. When I was thirteen, my Dad died driving drunk. When I was eighteen, my step-dad died of acute alcoholism. Yet no one ever speaks of slowing down booze. Why is that? My next thought- If somebody is working for me and they don't do what I tell them to do, well, I fire them.

I believe the people voted yes on Proposition 215 and yes on Proposition G. So what is it that the members of City Council and the Mayor are saying? It seems to me they have their own hidden agenda. Also, when you force people to grow indoors, and the city owns the electric company, who stands to profit? Now two contradicting ordinances have been created. One puts a limit to how much of God's medicine a person is allowed to cultivate, and the other has eliminated any alternate source of medicine for sick people. Not everybody can or is willing to grow their own medicine.

They may be- too sick, or even too scared. What about that guy who was shot when he caught someone trying to steal his medicine? That is enough to make anyone think twice about having to put their families at risk just to be able to medicate. I really believe that if our forefathers like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Ben Franklin were alive today to witness this, they would be standing behind me, not the City Council or the Mayor. Has anybody read the Declaration of Independence lately? If not, here it is. I'm asking everyone to read it.

Especially the people that we voted into office. I have highlighted spots that I believe are prudent to what is going on in society right now. Does anybody else notice this? I think it's very possible that we have come full circle from where we started. God save us. Thank you, God, for allowing me to speak out against tyranny.

I'm only saying the things that most people want to say, but have no means of saying them. Hemp has so many uses. My God did not just put it here for It is also here for food (hempseed), oil, clothing, rope, plastic (yeah, And' it's biodegradable as well, allowing paper -to be made at a much lower cost to the environment man that made of trees. Most, if not all religions, call upon the Tree of Life to heal the nations. along with many others, believe this tree to be God has blessed me with so much, I don't know what else to do but try to pass it on.

So back home, in Laytonville, I try to help in the ways I know how. On December 26, 2004 I opened a youth center called "Your It has three pool tables, a foosball table, two big screen TV's, and two Xboxes, and provides the. kids with a safe, free environment to hang Peafite out. I really believe that our children are one of our most important assets. And it seems to me that we are not doing our parts to make this a better world for them to live in.

I never hear about school budgets being increased, only cut. More money. But we have plenty of money for stupid stuff like bombing civilians and sending rockets into the sky to chase comets. Am I the only one noticing this garbage? Our elderly have to foot the bill for their pharmaceuticals without the government even giving them the option of growing their own. Is this America or Nazi Germany? This is the question I'm forced to ask myself.

I also try to support the Food Banks as much as possible. Last year I donated over $10,000 to the Food Banks- $5,000 to Ukiah, $2,000 to Willits, and $3,000 to Fort Bragg. Every month I bring fifty gallons of milk to the Food Bank in Laytonville, because when I got to California I went to the Food Bank for three months while I got on my feet. 1 thank God they were there and I have not forgotten. Thank you so much to all the people who work for the Foo'd Banks.

You guys rock! God loves If he blesses you, you should pass that blessing on. We can't take it with us when we die. Now I am hoping to open a youth center here hi Ukiah by Thanksgiving or Christmas, God willing. I don't have all the answers. But I do think that if we all tried to treat everything as if it were God, and love and thank him for everything we are blessed with, we would be left with an awesome world.

Don't worry about what God another person is praying to. 'Just have the best relationship you can with your Creator, because loves us all. I love the human race.

But I'm scared for its future. God loves you. Give thanks! I must also point out that the Food Bank is having an urgent problem. Between gas prices being outrageous, more people needing help, and the growing concern for recent hurricane victims, people tend to easily forget about the poverty levels here that rose by last year alone. Yeah, I was also told that they are experiencing a lot of cuts at the worst possible time for them.
