JOHNSONBURG PARADE TO BE HELD JUNE 29 The Rocky Grove Fire Department, its truck, auxiliary and band, Is among the dozens of companies throughout Western Pennsylvania, who have accepted invitations to appear at Johnsfourg on Saturday. June 20, in a big parade which will climax tho week celebration of the third annual Jubilee of Central Company No. 1. An industrial parade Is scuedulea for Wednesday, and will Include floats of various Industries, throuchout that section, and as well as Johnsburg or ganizations.

Parade fctarts at 6:30 p. m. EST. Firemen's Day is Saturday, with the mile long parade of bands, hose companies, and fire equipment begin ning at 6 p. m.

EST. The visitors will be competing for upwards of $300, offered in 14 big prizes. Officer Mehalllck has been stationed In Franklin since last September. While the couple will make their homo In Funxsutawney, Officer Mehalllck will continue bis police duties here. SOCIAL EVENTS. Beverly Ann Burgert Is Honor Guest At Party Celebrating Her Birthday. Mrs.

Fete Burgert entertained se-en boys and girls on Friday afternoon at the home of her mother. Mrs. Lewis MeKce. iu honor of her daughter, Beverly Ann. who was celebrating her seventh birthday anniversary.

Games were played during the afternoon and the honor guest was presented with gifts. Refreshments were served later In the afternoon with table decorations carried out in orange, yellow and green. A green cake with yellow candles centered the table and from the chandelier over the table hung yellow green and orange balloons tied with streamers of the opposite colors. The bouse was decorated throughout with colored balloons Mrs. Michael Orsega, Recent Bride, Honor Guest at Miscellaneous Shower.

Mrs. Kenneth Hunter, Mrs. George Barrett and Mrs. Walter Grinder en tertained Friday eveniug at the home of Mrs. Charles Grinder, Rooky Grove, honoring Mrs.

Michael Orsega, who was recently married. Mrs. Orsega was the former Miss Gladys Wilklns. During the evening guests played "contract" and prizes were awarded to Mrs. Robert Barnes, Mrs.

Orsega and Mrs. Harold-Baker. Refreshments were served to 14 guests seated at small tables and dec orations throughout the house were peonies aud roses. A miscellaneous shower was neia for the honor guest and she received many gifts. Members of Washington Club Will Hold Meeting on 31onday Evening.

The regular meeting of the Wash ington Club will be held Monday evening at 8 o'clock. Meaibers will be entertained mo tion pictures shown by members of the club and home made ice cream will be served as refreshment. DEATHS. Mrs. Otis Craine.

Mrs. Alice I Craine, 84, widow of Otis Craine, died at 11 p. m. Friday at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Lawrence May, Route 1, Polk.

Mrs. Craine was born in New York state, Feb. 23, 1S56, the daughter of Benedict and Mary Ann fcerlven Russell. Mrs. Craine was a resident of Mercer County for many years.

Her hus band died a'bout 46 years ago. She had been an. invalid for seven years. She came to the. Polk area about a year ago.

Surviving, are a daughter, Mrs. Min nle Fuller, Route 2, Polk three grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. The body has been removed to the Park Funeral Home, where services will be held Monday. Mrs. John Stark.

Mrs. Mary Barrickman, 423 Second Street, has received word of the death of her sister-in-law, Mrs. John Stark, of Jeannette. She had been in poor health for two years, but only seriously ill for the past two months. Mrs.

Stark was a frequent guest of Mrs. Barrickman and had a number of friends here. Perfect Girl Now Is 'Perfect Mother' As Prunella Stack, she was called Britain's "Perfect Girl," and founded the British Women's League of Health and Beauty. Now, as Lady David Douglas-Hamilton, she's the "Perfect having recently become the mother of a nine-pound son. Her husband is an K.

A. F. pilot. and Miss Maxine Turner, Bethel, were among the guests. THE CARD BASKET.

Miss Edna Jones left today for Los Angeles. where he will visit her sister, Miss Eleanor Jones. Richard Reamer and Eugene Hyatt left this morning for San Francisco. where thev will ieud a month. Miss Alice Black will return to her home in Grove City Sunday after spending the past week with friends and relatives.

Laurence J. Smith, of Wooster. arrived today from New York-City to pend the summer as the cuest of his sister, Louise Smith. Dr. F.

W. WiUon left today for Detroit, where he will visit his wife, who is an Instructor In the Detroit schools. Dr. and Mrs. Wilson will re turn next Wednesday.

Mrs. Dallas Graham returned to her home in Charlerol today after spending the past week as the guest of her mother-itvlaw, Mrs. H. A. Graham, and other friends and relatives.

Miss Louise Shaffer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. K. Shaffer, of Tort Arthur, Is the house guest of Miss Donna Jean McDowell, Liberty Street.

Miss Milburn T. Meeker is spending the week-end In Charlerol and from there she will go to New York to spend several weeks with her cousin, Mrs. Kobison, and attend a summer term at Columbia University. Rev. and Mrs, Frank A.

Towers and family have returned from Anderson, wnere tney attended the international convention of the Church of God. Rev. Towers is pastor of the Fox Street Church, Rocky Grove. Mrs. Nora Clough and Miss Florence Clough have returned from a trip to Harriburg and Ilersbey.

They were accompanied on the trip by Mrs. Clara Mitchell and daughter, Norma June, who are spending their vacation with friends in Washington, D. C. Miss Virginia Quinn aud Miss Gertrude Cook have returned from a week's trip' to New York World's Fair and to West Point Military Academy where they were guests over the week-end. They also attended a joint Annapolis and West Toint hop on Wednesday night.

MIFFLIN CO. POPULATION SHOWS 6.4 PER CENT. RISE LBWISTOWN, June 22. UP Mif flin County's population increased 6.47 per cent, during the past ten years, to a total of 42,946, according to the official 11M0 census figures re leased today. In 1030, the county's totaled 40,335, Just 2,611 less than the 1040 population.

Lewistown, county seat and largest borough in the county, had a popula tion of 12,080 in 1040, a decrease of 371 in the last decade. Lewistown borough will have an Increase of 1,000 within the next few weeks, but this will not be recorded in the 1940 census figures because the borough now is in the process of annexing Lake Park, a bordering community.
