Wednesdov. July 13, 1983 Valley artiststake part in Harrison Festival E20 through this medium creates delicate patterns and designs of thimble berries, dark slough waters and golden trees. Five of the artists and craftspersons instructing and exhibiting at Harrison Festival of the Arts 83, July 15-24 in Harrison Hot Springs, are from the Chilliwack area Molly Fromhart, Delwin Clark, Fenella Rose is making a stir among members of the reading public and among film makers. Clark graduated from Chilliwack Secondary School. His talents for creative writing, drawing and painting came to the attention of teachers Doug Steinson and Bob Steele, who urged the student to develop these skills.

Clarks other published novels are Inside Shadows, set on Mt. Thurston, and Sunshine Man set chiefly in Vancouver and Chilliwack. Sobchuck a spinner, weaver and dyer lives at Ryder Lake. She went into the world of nature dyeing with children eight years and over, and with younger children accompanied by adults. Always on the lookout for more finds, she takes her two young children on gathering expeditions and pops into mothers dye bag whatever plants catch her eye.

She is another of the partners at Wooly-For-You Shop, Agassiz. The festival exhibits the creative works of. Bollerup and Shafer in Memorial Hall, Harrison Hot Springs, July 20, 21 and 22 from noon to 8 p.m. Bollerups large paintings, both oils and acrylics, reflect the world of nature in all its glory; autumn trees glow, water sparkles, cabbages grow, and his back-yard chickens peck ceaselessly. This artist is a master of silk-screening and A Bollerup painting' is in the library of Chilliwack Secondary School.

Shafers pottery is among the finest and most imaginative in Western Canada. Lately he has been creating decorative panels of great beauty. His pottery is often patterned with soft motifs which show Fraser Valley mountains and fields. Schedules for Harrison festival workshops are at Fraser Valley College offices in Abbotsford, Agassiz, Chilliwack, Hope and Mission. Last year, her classes were full and inquiries have been made daily about July, 1983 classes.

She is one of four partners at the Wooly-For-You Craft Shop in Agassiz. Del Clark, who gives creative writing classes at the festival, is working on movie scripts. His third novel Wild Ed Wilson photo 'Glover Road Barn' by artist Gerry Thompson is part of the current exhibition at the Abbotsford-Matsqui Arts Council gallery in Matsqui Government Centre, Clearbrook. 'Jedi' adventure centre A shopping mall in Burnaby is playing host to the Jedi Adventure Centre, highlighting the myth and magic of the Star Wars movies. All three films of the Star Wars saga, including the current adventure, Return Of The Jedi, are featured in the freestanding exhibit.

Visitors get a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the making of a legend in a Hall of Fame which features original artwork, photos, concepts and documents. They have an opportunity to talk to Star Wars characters via special receivers. There is also a wraparound photo display where enthusiasts can have their picture taken and appear to become part of the Star Wars fantasy. (Visitors are urged to bring their own cameras to participate in this unique photographic experience.) The centre, during regular Lougheed Mall hours, hosts a variety of contests and games and admission is free. The traveling showcase is open through July 16.

8-5 P.M. stages continued, most of the members of the Actors Equity Association would soon have to find other professions. Of the five small-cast plays, however, only two were major hits that drew throngs of audiences The Owl and the Pussycat with its two players, and Luv with three. Two others, Peterpat, about a man named Peter and a girl named Pat, lasted very briefly, and Slow Dance on the Killing Ground, which luxuriated in a cast of three and ran only an uphill eleven weeks. The fifth of this quintet, The Subject Was Roses, a holdover from the previous season and sporting three actors, won a Pulitzer Prize and managed a run of 98 weeks, but was never a sell-out, popular hit.

For the next year, no full length plays with less-than-normal-sized casts came along. The Owl and the Pussycat is not only the title of Country Playhouses current attraction in Abbotsford. It is also a program-listing of the entire cast of characters. 1 There are just those two in the cast an owlish, but not necessarily wise, young man of intellectual pretensions, and a cuddly girl who may lack learning but has plenty of know-how. Paul Batten and Jeanne Strueby portray them.

When the comedy scored its first success in New York in the fall of 1964, it was one of a series of plays with 1 small casts that season that sent shivers down the spine of every hopeful actor in America. It was one of five plays running on Broadway at the time with casts totalling just 13 actors, or an average of 2.6 actors per play.
