Dennis Clark DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE ADMINISTRATION Dated at Mission, BC this 9th day of June, 2008. FROM 'ABBY ONAIO Grants game grew as well. He planned to play major midget in 200667, but Abbotsford Pilots assistant coach Jarrett Craig prevailed upon Him to come out for the local junior team.

Grant was stellar as a 16-year-old rookie, piling up a team-high 31 goals in 47 games. Grants strong play opened the door to the WHL, as both the Broncos and the Moose Jaw Warriors put him on their protected lists for a time. But the J. Mouat Secondary student instead opted to play junior A hockey with the Langley Chiefs, and forced himself on the NHLs radar with a sensational 2007-08 season. Grant racked up 63 points in 57 games and earned a trip to the all-star game.

Capping off his dream season, Grant committed to the NCAAs Michigan State Spartans on Monday Hell spend one more year with the Chiefs before heading stateside. Its been exciting graduating from Mouat, committing to Michigan State, and then the draft to finish it up, marveled Grant, who rocketed up Central Scouting rankings, moving from 106th among North American skaters at midseason to 40th at seasons end. According to Brad Bowen, a New York Islanders scout who coached Grant and Wudrick for several years in the Abbotsford Minor Hockey system, Grants journey should serve as an inspiration for players who dont wow the scouts initially He was determined to be a hockey player and wasnt going to let anyone say he wasnt, Bowen said. A lot of kids give up after they dont get drafted. Wudricks road to the draft was more straightforward than Grants, but his draft year was a bit of a roller-coaster.

He started his sophomore WHL season on fire, racking up five goals in the first five games, but his world was rocked in mid-November when his best friend Sean Phillips died in a car accident. Wudrick came back to Abbotsford to serve as a pallbearer in Phillipss funeral, but his game went into a tailspin upon returning to the Broncos. It was really tough to go through, said Wudrick, who scored just two goals over the next 17 games. Sean and I were best friends since Grade 7, and he just lived down the street from me. Id talked to him the night before the accident, in fact, making plans for the prom (at Bateman Secondary).

The Christmas break came at an opportune time for Wudrick, and he came back rejuvenated in 2008. He potted seven goals in the month of January alone, and finished the regular season with 20 goals and 24 assists in 66 games. As the draft draws near, Phillips is very much on Wudricks mind. He was really looking forward to the draft with me, Wudrick said. This weekend, Im doing everything in honour of him.

Wudrick and Grant reconnected at the NHL draft combine in Toronto a couple weeks back, taking a break from the interviews and fitness testing to check out the Hockey Hall of Fame. The former linemates will be tracking each others progress as the draft wraps up today As soon as one of us gets picked, the other one will be on the phone, Grant said with a smile.
