C. Hummel, will be held at o'clock this afternoon at the First Baptist church. The Bev. Owen T. Day, assisted by the Rev.

Harold C. Hamman. will officiate. Burial will be in Orchard Mesa cemetery, The Funeral home has charge of arrangements. A quartet composed 8 Mrs.

Grace Ritchie, Mrs. R. Bauman. Bruce Currier and M. B.

Fitzgerald, will sing. Mrs. Roger Ackley will be the organist, and Mrs. W. Meens will also take part in the musical part of the services.

Casketbearers will be Ed Cur. rier, Garrett G. Newman, W. W. DeVoe, It.

C. Dorn, Clarence Zipse. and Glenn Berry, Rosetta Catherine Gigax was born Jan. 17, 1883, at Woodbine, Diekenson county, Kan. She attended schools in New Lancaster and Paola, and taught in the schools of Miami county, Kan.

In 1904, she married to Harry S. Harris of Paola, Kan. Two sons, Bernard and LaMont, were born to this union. Both sons now live Pueblo. In 1910, they moved to Grand Junction and made their home here for a number of years.

In 1941, she was married to Dr. J. C. Hummel, and for two years, they resided in Fruita. Since 1943, they have made their home in Pueblo, where Dr.

Hummel is practicing chiropractor. Her early married life was devoted to rearing her family, In later years, she made host friends as a business woman in western Colorado. She united with the Baptist church at the age of 16 and maintained membership in this denomination wherever she resided. She was an outstanding alto singer and was a member of many choirs. Until moving to Pueblo, she was an active member of Grand Valley Rebekah lodge.

the Neighbors of Woodcraft, the Idle Knot club. and the Berean Sunday school class of the Baptist church. Surviving are her husband, Dr. Hummel; two sons, Bernard and LaMont Harris, Pueblo: three grandchildren, Pat, Marilyn, and Ted Harris: two sisters, Miss Agnes Gigax, and Mrs. R.

R. Giffin, Grand Junction: four brothers, Joseph, Gideon, and Julius, Grand Junction, and Walter C. Roseville, and a number of nieces and nephews. Her parents, Gottfried and Catherine Gigax, three sisters, Lizzie, Mary and Minnie, and two brothers, Chester and Edward preceded her in death APPLETON MRS. J.

Recreation Survey Is Making Progress The Grand Junction recreation survey is taking shape at this time according to reports of Miss beth Thomas, group consultant with the state welfare department, and John Collier, local recreation director. The survey will not be completed until the latter part of June, A total of 40 committee members from over the eity are working on the project, and others are being drawn in as the survey progresses. The survey is being conducted on school neighborhood basis. with each school neighborhood reporting its recreation facilities and problems and making suggestions. A number of committee meetings nave been held the past week including a meeting of the finance committee, of the commitlee and of the line committee.

Sur. vey cards will be issued to students Tuesday for their reactions. Miss Thomas will return here the week of June 18 to meet with the same committees and additional ones to get final suggestions to be included in the survey, The Grand Junction Recreation Commission and its board of directors are assisting in the project.
