Rutland Daily Herald State Monday, April 5, 2004 Hundreds search for 17. 17-year-old -old missing for two weeks The Associated Press MONTGOMERY Search teams looking for missing 17-yearold Brianna Maitland of Sheldon prepared Sunday for a winter storm expected to last until Tuesday morning. "We're just trying to cover as much of the high ground as we possibly can today, and we can fall back into the valleys tomorrow," said Brad Dennis, director of the Klaas Kids Search Center, on Sunday. Dennis' group is coordinating the search and is training volunteers. About 300 people searched in teams, on foot, for Maitland in Franklin County on Friday and Saturday, Dennis said.

He estimated another 100 turned out Sunday. Some groups came from as far away as New York, Montreal, and Pittsburgh, he said. "It's a beautiful young girl that's missing and everyone wants to bring her said Dennis. Maitland has been missing since the night of March 19, after she finished her work as a dishwasher at the Black Lantern Inn in Montgomery. Her abandoned car was found a mile west of town on Route 118 the following day.

P. Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Angela Foreman Rites SPRINGFIELD A memorial service for Angela Sue Foreman, 25, who died March 29, 2004 at her home, was held on Friday at Davis Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Harold Harrison of Springfield officiated. A private family committal took place on Saturday.

Arrangements were by Davis Memorial Chapel. Harry H. Denhard BENNINGTON Harry H. Denhard, 84, died April 3, 2004, at the Vermont Veterans Home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec.

25, 1919, the son of Charles and Elsie (Herron) Denhard. He had been a dairy farmer most of his life working on a farm in Greenville, N.Y. Mr. Denhard was an avid, expert horseman. He also studied Eastern religion and was the founder of the Auburn Cord Dusenberg Classic Car Club.

A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Air Force. He is survived by two sons, David Denhard of Petersburgh, N.Y., and Peter Denhard of Greenville, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Joseph D. Cerretani BENNINGTON Joseph D. Cerretani, 85, formerly of Sandgate and East Arlington, died April 2, 2004, at the Centers For Living and ad Rehabilitation following a long illness. Mr. Cerretani was born in Hazelton, on Aug.

1, 1918, the son of Nicholas and Christina (Paternoster) Cerretani. A World War II Army veteran, he served with the 124th Calvary in China, Burma and India theater of operations. He was married to the former Sibia Bossone on Oct. 6, 1956, in Connecticut. She predeceased him on March 24, 2001.

Mr. r. Cerretani had worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry in Connecticut. Following retirement, he and his wife relocated from Norwalk, to Sandgate, where they lived for several years prior to moving to East Arlington. 27, 1910, the son of Frederick and Elizabeth (Parent) James Cota. He worked for many years at the Weybridge Morgan Horse Farm and the Middlebury Post Office while operating his own small farm in Weybridge. Mr. James was a member of the Weybridge Congregational Church, Weybridge Fire Department, and had served as lister for the town of Weybridge. Survivors include a daughter, Shirley J.

Shumway of Tucson, five grandchildren; two sisters, Freda Wyman of Florida, and Alga Livingstone of New York; nine great grandchildren; three greatgreat-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Mable (Austin) James in 1991; a daughter, Vivian M. James in 1997; and three brothers and sisters. Lamica was born September 1, 1944 in Springfield, MA. He was the son of Alfred Rita (Boussy) Lamica. He received his early education in local Springfield, MA schools. He joined the United States Navy in 1962 and. served from his home port Philadelphia, PA.

Following his honorable discharge he returned to Springfield. He married Nancy H. Dyer on June 1, 1968 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Springfield. They moved to Vermont with their family in July 1986.

Ken had worked for H. A. Eddy Oil Co. as a service technician until being forced to retire due to illness in 1992. He was a former resident of Brandon.

He was a member of Brandon American Legion Post and had served several years as a volunteer for the Brandon Area Rescue Squad. Surviving is his wife Nancy Lamica of Rutland, 2 daughters, Hope E. Lamica of Rutland and Sandra Billings and her husband Radley of Rutland; a sister Linda of Mays Landing, NJ; 2 brothers, Robert of Goshen and Alfred H. Lamica, Jr. of McAlester, OK; 3 grandsons Lucas Billings, Lance R.

Billings and Colt L. Billings and a granddaughter, Arianna R. Billings, a all of Rutland. A private funeral service, with Military Honors, will be held on Tuesday at The Miller Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. The Rev.

Lonergan BRANDON The funeral for Mildred Almira Lonergan, 74, who died March 31, 2004 at Fletcher Allen Health Care Center in Burlington, was held on Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor, was the celebrant. Deacon Gary Griffin assisted.

Organist was Stu James. A private burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Bearers included Benny Lonergan, Chad Lonergan and Craig Lonergan, all of Brandon, John Lonergan of West Rutland, and David Lonergan of Brattleboro. Following the service friends gathered in St.

He died Dec. 30, 1999. Mrs. Lovett enjoyed camping. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Beth Racine of Leicester, and Maureen A.

Lovett of Rutland; two sons, Dr. Richard D. Lovett of Rutland Town and William E. Lovett of Rutland; a sister, Charlotte McCullough, also of Rutland; five grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Eugene Sheldon, and a sister, Arlene Sheldon.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Rutland. Officiating will be the Rev. Bruce Bishop. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mock, 79, formerly of Castleton Meadows, Castleton, passed away peacefully on April 4, 2004 at Rutland Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Mock was born in Glens Falls, NY, on June 22, 1924, daughter of the late Bernard and Beatrice O'Holloran. She married Wayne (Pat) Mock June 15, 1947, in Glens Falls, N.Y. Mrs.

Mock was a volunteer at the Rutland Regional Medical Center for many years. She was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary 3907 of Fair Haven. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, Irish traditions and music, and playing cards and bingo. Mrs.

Mock is survived by her daughter, Sharon Decato and her husband, John of Ira; two sons, Timothy Mock and his wife Pam of East Poultney, and Mock and his wife Kylie of Hartland; one sister, Jeanne Slack of Glens Falls; one brother, Russell Holleran and his wife Bessie of Fort Edward, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Wayne (Pat) Mock, and a son-inlaw Steven VanDien. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM at the Roberts-Aubin Funeral Home in Poultney. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, 10 AM at the St. John the Baptist Church in Castleton.

where he had been a resident since October 2003. He was born Oct. 7, 1919 in Rupert, the son of Jay and May (Frost) Moore. He was raised on the family farm in Rupert a and attended school there and at Granville (N.Y.) High School. In 1962 he started working for Salem Farm Supply until his retirement after more than 20 years of service.

His memberships include the Rupert United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer and trustee; a charter member of the Rupert Volunteer Fire Department where he served as chief for 35 years; deputy with the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department for over 20 years; a member of the Bennington County Sheriff's Department for 30 years. He was vice president of the Bennington County Farm Bureau. Mr. Moore also was second constable in Rupert for 28 years and held the offices of selectman, town agent and grand juror. He was a member of the Washington Pomona Grange, Vermont State Grange, National Grange and a 60-year member of Mount Anthony Grange.

Mr. Moore's hobbies included deer hunting and fishing. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mildred Inglee and Marjorie Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Janice Herrick Moore of Rupert; a son, Jay Moore of South Burlington; two grandchildren; a great grands a niece and two cousins. Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the McClellan Funeral Home, 19 East Broadway, Salem, N.Y.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Rupert United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mary Beth Hutchinson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Rupert Cemetery. Alfred J. Barbagallo SHAFTSBURY Alfred Joseph Barbagallo, 71, died April 2, 2004 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Rutland on June 10, 1932, the son of Alfio and Mary (Guyette) Barbagallo. He was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph's Academy.

He married Barbara McLaughlin on Feb. 20, 1952 at St. Peter's Church in Rutland. They previously resided in Massachusetts, Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Connecticut before moving back to Vermont. He had been employed for many years at the former Triangle Company in Bennington, and was the plant manager at the time of his retirement.

More recently he had been employed at the Enterprise Car Rental Agency in Bennington. Mr. Barbagallo was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. He was an avid baseball player, playing in several leagues over the years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, A. J. Barbagallo of Plymouth Meeting, Timothy Barbagallo of Bryn Athyn, and John Barbagallo of Madison, three daughters, Mary Theresse Barbagallo of Plymouth Meeting, Lisa Cathcart of Poultney, and Christine Rhodes of Shaftsbury; three brothers, Paul Barbagallo, Joseph Barbagallo and Gerry Bar- INVITATION TO BID RENOVATION OF PRESENT HEATING SYSTEM AND ADDITION OF AIR CONDITIONING. FAIR HAVEN FREE LIBRARY (802) 265-8011 hadn't voted on a single tax measure. The House Ways and Means Committee voted Friday to endorse one measure, the tax credit to encourage small businesses to offer health insurance. The credit is part of a larger health bill that could come to the House floor later this week. Only the House can initiate tax bills, but the Senate must approve them before they become law. Welch BRADFORD Phoebe Marie Hooker Welch, 89, died April 2, 2004 at Brookside Nursing Home in Wilder. She had lived in Bradford her entire life, residing in her home for many years. She was born in South Ryegate on April 20, 1914, the only child of Burnside Herman Hooker and Grace Darling Hooker who also lived in Bradford for over 50 years. She was a graduate of Bradford Academy with high honors in 1932, and graduated from the University of Vermont where she majored in elementary education. She married Kenneth Donald Welch of Newbury in 1935.

They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1985. He predeceased her in 1991. Mrs. Welch was active for many years in the Iona Chapter of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She was appointed to the original Planning Commission which structured the present zoning bylaws for Bradford.

'She was also a member of the Bradford United Church of Christ. Survivors are two daughters, Patricia Hooker Hart of Middleton, and Donna Marie Kirk of Montclair, four grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bradford United Church of Christ with the Rev. Harvey Bartlett officiating.

There are no calling hours. Burial will be at a later date. Refreshments will be served in the church vestry following the service. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Brookside Nursing Home, Patient Fund, in Wilder. The Hale Funeral Home of Bradford is in charge of arrangements.
