300 Enrolled In Bible School At Pine Grove PINE GROVE, June 25 Pine "Grove Area Daily Vacation Bible School is now in its second week. More 'than 300 children attend daily in St. Peter's Lutheran Sunday School. It is under the of --Mrs. M.

M. Kipps with Mrs. Norman Neidlinger as secretary. The superintendent of the beginner's department is Mrs. Harry Himmelberger; first, second and third grade girls, Mrs.

Clark Snyder and Mrs. Norman Beck; first, second and third grade boys. Mrs. Marlin Witmer and Mrs. Milton Becker.

Fourth, fifth and sixth grade boys, Milton Becker; fourth, fifth and sixth grade Mrs. Paul Bowen; teenagers, Mrs. Robert Benner and Alice Henninger. Each superintendent is assisted by teachers and helpers numbering about 40. The installation of teachers was conducted by Rev.

R. C. Benner. Each morning a minister or educator addresses the group. These have been Rev.

Harry Fahnestock, Rev. Ralph Mehle, Rev. A. Levan Zechman, Marvin 0. Werley, Frank Winsheimer, Rev.

Roland Turnbach. Friday, the last day will in elude a party for the students. On Thursday evening the closing exercises and exhibits will be held in St. Peter's Lutheran Sunday School to which the public is invited. The school is sponsored by Pine Grove Council of Churches Help Fire Victims The community has been askec to lend a helping hand to the Emmett Morgan family 'whose home near Ravine, Pine Grove Route Three was destroyed by fire last Monday.

Mrs. Bruce L. Christ of the Red Cross, and St. Lutheran Church are accepting at the local bank. Mrs.

Morgan has been a patient in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Pottsville, since May 21. Morgan and five of the children escaped with only the clothing they were wearing. Harvey Herring arranged for Morgan and his sons to be cared for temporarily at the Schuylkil County Institutional District. A daughter, Betty, is being cared for by relatives at Tremont. In Queen Contest Two young ladies from Pine Grove have entered the competition for of the Furrow' contest which'is co-sponsored by the Schuylkill County Soil Conservation District, County Vocational Agriculture Departments American Fence Dealers.

The local judging will take place at the Schuylkill Haven Community Celebration on July 4. Miss Cecelia Tice, of Mr. and-Mrs. Harry Tice, Pine Grove R.D., a 1953 graduate of the Pine Grove Area High School, and Mary Dissinger, daughter of Mrs. Juinee Dissinger, Pine Grove Route Three, a junior in the Pine Grove Area High School are the local contestant.

New Post Ray L. Evelan, a former Pine Grove man has been appointed general superintendent of the Armour Leather Company, He assumed his new duties on June 2. Evelan has under his the Williamsport Tannery, the Noxen Tannery, the Westover Tannery, all in Pennsylvania and the Parson, West Virginia Tannery. Evelan was born in Schuylkill County on August 11, 1908. He attended the Pine Grove Township Schools and is a 1926 graduate of the Pine Grove High School.

He has taken courses in business administration and accounting at Perm State. Mr. Evelan began his tannery experience at the Gensemer and Salen Tannery, Pine Grove as a laborer, where he advanced through ranks and was appointed assistant 'superintendent oi the Pine Grove Tanning Company in which capacity he served until this company discontinued operations in 1949. Evelan was a superintendent of the Lang Tanning Company at Kitchener, Ontario in early 1950. In July of 1950 he was appointed superintendent of the Armour Leather Company Tannery at and served in this capacity until his recent appointment.

He is married to the former Lutie Schneck of Pine Grove. They are the parents of two sons, both graduates of the Pine Grove High School. Mr. and Mrs. Evelan will reside in Williamsport.
