4-B Burlington (N.C.) Thursday, May 20, 1971 Strikes Spares Burlington Lanes At the time of this writing each of the twelve lanes in the Challenge the Leader tournament are taken by individuals. There are ten more days left for anyone to challenge a lane and beat the leader so they can be in on the roll-off for the main prize fund now at $175. The leading woman's score for the special prize is held by DELIA RUSH with a score of 625. There is still time left for one to get in on the summer league program. Just let us know that it is your desire and we will see that you get on a league.

In league action this week the following leagues are being lead by these teams: Men's Triangle--Lucky Three; Men's City Summer--Insiders; Uniroyal Juniors--Frigidaires; Coca Cola Bantams--Three Dimensions; Monday Night Mixed--Johnsonblood; Ladies Threesome--teams one and five; Wednesday Triples--Pink Ladies and team seven; Bur-Gra Mixed--Plaza Gulf Station (Champions); and A.M. Doubles--Carol and Coy. Individuals rolling outstanding series were: LOUISE DAVIS (518), MARGARET BELL (523), MILTON SUNDQUIST (586), MARY BRADLEY (541), LARRY ALLGOOD (617), WILMA WARD (524), JAMEY ROUTH (456), MELVIN KNIGHTEN (586), LAVERNE ELLISON (523), JOE MILES (569), and CURTIS ALLISON (603) and POLLY BAER (573) Some fine games were rolled by the following: ZANE GIBBS (228), POLLY BAER (201), WILLIAM MILES (229), MELVIN KNIGHTEN (230), LAVERNE ELLISON (208), LARRY ALLGOOD (213), WILMA WARD (181), QUEEN PAUL (197), MARY BRADLEY (199), DAVID BELL (232), BETSY BATEMAN (216). In the Pepsi Cola Specials the two young people rolling best game were BOBBY GLENN (141) and DANDRA Mc- CULLUN (97). YMCA In the Tuesday Nite Women's League RAYENE ASHBURN rolled a 287 set, GERALDINE BOYD 303 set; BECKY BENTLEY had a nice game of 120, and MARGARET CAMPBELL had a nice set of 308 with games of 108 110 and 90.

On the Wednesday Nite Mixed League, Hanford Brick rolled over Kayser Roth, by winning all three games. RAY HAWKINS was his usual self, rolling a 377 set with games of 127 113 and 127. ALICE BOSWELL had a 298 set with one game of 111. Plaza Pontiac won two games from Direct Oil. WALTER PRITCHETTE 349 and JACKIE PRITCHETTE, 315.

Sox's BP took two games from Boston Cleaners. LARRY COBB 319, RICHARD COBB, 311 and GRAIG PULLEY, 303. Thursday Nite Mixed League, Team No. 4 won three games from team No. 3 BECKY SNEED, 326; CATHY BURNS 276.

Team No. 1 won three games from Team No. 2. MALVIN SMITH 351, STAN COPELAND 315, OBERA JONES 313 and TOM WILSON 314. Team No.

III WCL Yesterday's State By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Greenville moved back to within a half-game of the lead in the Western Carolines League Tuesday night by splitting a doubleheader while first- place Spartanburg was losing to Sumter, 1-0. Greenville lost to Anderson, 10-1, in the first game but took the nightcap, 5-3. Bob Jones of Anderson was the night's big gun with two two-run home runs, one in each game. Bob Stach also put one out of the park in the nightcap for the Senators. Greenville's victory came behind the pitching of James Wright.

Sumter and Spartanburg battled through 8V4 scoreless in- nings before the winning run was scored by Jose Lopez. He reached first on a fielder's choice, moved to second on an error and came home on Rick Sanderlin's single. In the night's other games, Monroe and Greenwood split victories, with Monroe taking a 4-3 win before the Braves bounced back for an 8-4 triumph. Tonight the same pairings are scheduled: Greenwood at Monroe, Anderson at Greenville and Spartanburg at Sumter.
