Clifford, spokesman for the Myron Kasson Memorial Hospital Fund, said today that a federal grant of $280, 000 is available for the construction of a 50-bed hospital in Mont rose. Mr. Clifford disclosed that the grant was approved early this week by the Northeast Regional Commit tee for Co-ordination of Activities under the Hospital Survey and Con struction Act, a branch of the State Department of Welfare. A fund-raising drive to raise the remainder of the estimated $500, 000 cost of the hospital is being planned, he added. A fund of more than $65,000.

Under the federal program for apportionment of funds to rural areas according to the population to be served, the Montrose area would be entitled to aid for construction of a hospital up to 98-bed capacity. William Ries, president, made the charter presentation to the auxiliary and presided at the business session. Mrs. Eugene Holland, central director. Department of Pennsylvania, and Mrs. Elizabeth Matthews, past president.

Ladies Auxiliary, West Side Post, were guests. Mrs. Paul Dennenbaum, membership chairman, reported that the membership doubled during the recent drive. The membership now totals 50. Mrs.

Sol Caterino and Mrs. Roy Hill were named chairman and co-thairman, respectively, for the awards committee which will plan a program to raise money for the post. Miss Minnie Braida was named sick committee chairman. The next meeting will take place Wednesday, April 11 at 8 P.M. In the post.

CHOIR TO GIVE SACRED PROGRAM The Adult Choir of Asbury Methodist Church will present 'The Seven Last Words of by Dubois, on Sunday at 7:30 P.M. in the church under the direction of Miss Harriet Price, who will open the prpgram with an organ prelude. The scripture lesson will be given by Mra. Helen Truscott. The pastor, Rev.

McNichols, principal of North Scranton Junior High School, was the principal speaker at the March dinner-meeting of the Men of Green Ridge last night in St. Paul's School Auditorium.

Main Providonc Ni I Nartb Srratii Bask Alfred Browning Dies After Illness OLYPHANT A retired Hudson Coal Co. miner, Alfred J. Browning, 510 Delaware died last night at his home. He had been ill three weeks. A native of Wales, the deceased resided in West Scranton until moving here about 40 year ago.

Surviving are his wife, the former Agnes Beecham of Taylor; a daughter, Mrs. Tony Grutte, Kearny. three sons, John. Blakely, and Alfred Jr. and David, at home; a brother, William, South Wales, and three grandchildren.
