9 Rutland Daily Herald -Monday Morning, uly 13, 1992 State 'tk Jtfl The seventh annual Vermont Reggae Festival attracted perhaps 20,000 fans of Jamaican-style folk rock to rural Lamoille County on Saturday. The Lehouiller family had agreed to host the free celebration near the part of their farm where they hold a series of Mud Races for trucks. Fans, merchants and performers all praised the site for its beauty and spaciousness, compared with the Burlington North Beach site the festival overwhelmed last year with more than 30,000, participants. Campsites were available, and about 10,000 people had arrived by 10 a.m. Saturday.

Jeffords, threw his support Sunday behind Rutland Mayor Jeffrey Wen-ibergs bid for the U.S. Congress, I have known Jeff a long time and Im impressed with him, Jeffords said in a telephone interview from his home in Shrewsbury. 1 think hed make an excellent member of Congress. Wennberg was an active campaigner for Jeffords and formerly managed his congressional office in Rutland. Wennberg faces a Republican primary with Wallingford insur-! ance salesman Timothy Philbin I and Ralph Sinclair of Rutland, who runs a snack food distribu-I tion business.

The winner will take on Rep. i Bernard Sanders, for Ver-! monts lone congressional seat. No Democrat is in the race, i Like Jeffords, Wennberg is con-1 sidered more moderate on certain issues. Contrary to Philbin and Sinclair, for example, Wennberg says he supports a womans right to an abortion and would increase I takes on the wealthy to help bal- knee the federal budget deficit.
