Again last evening we noticed it and investigated at once, finding that the bird had tried to swallow a long strip of white linen, which became lodged when about half down. An immediate operation was necessary. Friend wife supplied a pair of small scissors snd we carefully trimmed the thread loose from the tongue, then tried to extract the strip of linen. Failing In this, we held the mouth ojien and snipped the cloth off as far down in the throat as possible, being careful not to injure the tender, inflamed tissues. This morning the bird was hopping around in the yard with its mother, perk as ever, and we were happy.
