m. He will be introduced by Clarence Ollendike. Purcell Reaches 30th Year With Telephone Co. John J. Purcell, 1145 Monsey a telephone lineman, yester day marked his 30th year of serv ice with the Bell Telephone Co.

of Pennsylvania. Mr. Purcell started to work for the company in 1919 and has al ways worked in this city. He is a member of the Hundred Thousand Mile Club, an organization of Bell employes who have driven com pany vehicles that distance with' out having a single accident charged to them. He also belongs to the Elks, the American Legion and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Mrs: Purcell is the former Miss Agnes Kelly. She was formerly an operator in the Scranton office. Jones Memorial Congre- Rev. Kaercher Seeks Approval As Supply Pastor A congregational meeting will follow the 10 a. m. service Sunday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church.

The meeting has been called to pass on the supply preaching that the Rev. Mr. Kaercher, pastor of St. Mark's, will carry on at St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

He will fill the vacancy left by the Rev. Louis E. Wein. Both chut councils met recently and iroved the appointment of the Rev. Mr.

Kaercher. The appointment will be presented to the congregation at the meeting. A series of sermons on the doctrine of the church will be concluded by the Rev. Mr. Kaercher at the morning service at St.

Mark's Sunday. His topic will be "The Church, Guardian of Apostolic Truth and Traditions." Subjects already presented at the regular Sunday service were: "Sin and Grace," "The Doctrine of Good Works," and "Need for Sacraments." All Saints Day services will be conducted at both churches Tuesday by the Rev. Mr. Kaercher. Eucharist will be celebrated at 10 a.

m. in St. Mark's and solemn vespers at 7:30 p. m. at St.

Paul's. Guild to Hold Halloween Party The annual Halloween party of the Convent Guild of St. Patrick's, Church will be held tonight at 8 o'clock in the new school auditorium. Mrs. Patrick Summeral is chairman with Mrs.

Bea OMai ley, cochairman. Prizes will be awarded for the funniest, prettiest and most original costumes. Judges will be: Mrs. Arthur Lunney, Mrs. Thomas Carroll, Mrs.

Church to Observe Girl Scout Sunday Washburn Street Presbyterian Church will observe Girl Scout Sunday with members of Troop 39 and Brownie Troop 73 taking part in the Sunday worship service at 10:30 a. m. The Rev. William C. Evans, pastor, will deliver the sermon, "Israel's Restoration." Hospital Notes Clarindo Ann Leondi, 3, 217 Fairview was admitted to West Side Hospital yesterday after she suffered a severe laceration of the left wrist "when shf fell on a milk bottle while playing at home. The tendon in her wrist was severed and seven sutures were used to close the wound. Her condition was given as "good." Jerry Kaplan, 7. 158 South Hyde Park was treated for a dog bite of the right shoulder. He was bitten by a dog near his home.

Committee chairmen are: Miss Mary Rinaidi, refreshments; Miss a sociation, voicing strong support for the veterans' bonus, heatedly criticized the United Veterans Or ganization at a meeting last, night in the East Scranton Memorial Home, 1319 Ash St. Norman Price, spokesman for the group which is the home association unit of East Scranton Me morial Post 966, American Legion, said that "the organization is try ing to effect disunity by opposing the veterans' bonus." Mr. Price, who added that he also was speaking for the Lacka wanna County Veterans Associa tion Executive Committee of which he is a member, described the organization as "a fly-by-night group which manages to poll just enough money to pay for newspaper advertisement, ne said the 31 groups affiliated with the county veterans' assocaltion have been recognized and established. More than 150 members of the association at the meeting were unanimously in accord with Mr. Price's charges.

Rev. Hartman Returns As Church Pastor The Rev. E. B. Hartman was welcomed back for another year as pastor of Calvary Mennonite Church at a reception Wednesday night at the parsonage.

About 70 attended. The Rev. Mr. Hartman and his family were presented with a gift by Mrs. Mertie Sloat in behalf of the congregation.

Richard Bird was master of ceremonies. Words of welcome were given by the following: Harry Hill, Sunday School; George Butler, conference delegate; Mrs. Louise Garrison, officers; Harry Bailey, Menno-Youth and Mrs. George Ebersole, Junior Society. A musical program was in charge of Willard Schroeder and Russell Bird.

Miss Lois Warner entertained with a trumpet selec tion and Lilas Butler offered a piano solo. To March in Parade Three groups which partici pated in the East Scranton Halloween parade Wednesday night will take part in the bonus parade tonight. They are the Mayerettes, the Crystallettes and the Crystal Band. Members of the Mayerettes are requested to meet at Gibson and Wyoming Ave. tonight at 6:4 5o'clock in the same costumes they wore in the Halloween parade.

The East Scr3nton Crystal Band will meet at the same place at 7 o'clock in fifil uniform. The Crystalettes will meet at Wash Ington and Wyoming Ave. at 7 o'clock. Members of the Petersburg Blue Devils Club will meet at m. today in the clubrooms then proceed to East Gibson St.
