This census is a gathering of statistics of the wholesale and retail trade of the community and is to be consolidated with similar reports which will embrace the entire nation. It is being taken because the merchants themselves have asked for it, according to the announcement of the bureau of the census.

They want this information as it will show ways in Mr. and Mrs. James Marshall have returned to their home in Ridge ave nue, after spending the winter with Robert T. Caldwell, tester, has prepared the February report for the Washington County Dairy Herd Improvement association. Four hundred and fifty-two cows in 24 herds were enrolled in the association during the month.

The census will, give those retailers who study the reports a "yard stick" by which they can compare their own business with the total business of the merchants of the same kind in their locality, or in other localities. They will be able to compare their own business with average conditions in such vital matters as inventories on hand, sales, employes, wages, average salaries paid and cash as against credit sales. Chain store operations can also be compared with independent store operations. This census will also help all merchants to get a better idea of business trends. General Trend to be Shown It will give those wholesalers who study the reports the same sort of information about wholesaling as that furnished retailers about retailing.

Elizabeth Marshall Mrs. Elizabeth Marshall, aged 54 years, wife of Oliver Marshall, died Monday morning, March 24, 1930, at 4:55 o'clock, at her home in the rear of Murdock street, following a short illness. Marshall was a lifelong resident of Canonsburg and was loved and respected by all who knew her. She was a member of the Payne A. M. E. church and also served on the Stewardess Board for several years.

Mrs. Marshall was the mother of seventeen children, the following survive: Mrs. Ike Jordan, Mrs. George Wilson, Mrs. Hem-y Battles, William Marshall, all of Pittsburgh Mrs.
