Industry Aid Reports Ready For Barton Fair BARTON (Special) Specimen copies of government research reports which may hold valuable information for Vermont manufacturers and businessmen will be displayed at the Northeastern Vermont New Products Fair to be held here from July 22 to 25. These reports were selected from some 250,000 kindred reports of the Office of Technical Services, Ur S. Department of Commerce, according to Wesley Steele of St.

Johns bury, a member ot the Fairs Steering committee. Steele said the contents of the collection represents an expenditure by the government of billions of dollars for research and cover probes Into almost every field o2 industrial activity. Explaining that the research projects covered In the reports were designed primarily to solve military problems, Steele added that the findings extend into almost all fields including chemicals, plastics, ceramics, electronics, aviation, petroleum products and other subjects. Information received by Steele from the Department of Commerce shows, be said, that industrial firms have used these reports to develop new products or to solve technical production problems. He cited one example of a manufacturer of mirrors who recently used information In one of the reports to solve a production problem, with a resulting saving of $10,000 a year.

Another firm was said to have utilized one ot the reports to develop a battery for miners' lamps. Had the firm been required to start research "from scratch" it would have cost about $25,000, Steele was informed. He added that the reports are distributed by tb Department of Commerce at a nom inal cost. The specimen copies to be shown at the New Products Fair will be part of the Information on display for the use of who may be seeking new methods or new products and who will find available immensely valuable research free for the asking in a great variety of Industrial and manufacturing fields, Steele declared.
