Henry Battles of Pleasant street, who is employed at the Rutland railroad office, is taking a two weeks vacation. Miss Gladys Markoff of Main street is visiting friends in Brandon for a few days. During yesterdays storm a bolt of lightning tore a blind from the house occupied by Herbert Perci-val on Barnes street and broke two large windows In the house of Patrick Patten on Barnes street No other damage was reported.

Miss Davine of Main street, who has been confined to her home with illness, fs able to be out. William Flemming has gone to Ottawa, where he' will take charge of a mill for the Canadian Clarendon Marble company. James Quinn, of Essex Junction is spending a Yfew days with his parents on High street. Miss Anna May Reagan has returned to her home in Fair Haven after spendings week with her cousin. William Dwyer of Main street is having alterations made on the interior of his home. Gfeorge Gallagher, James Gilfeather, Charles Mumford and Clyde Hunter have returned from Bomoseen after spending a few days with friends. Death of Patrick Everin. Patrick Everin, formerly of West Rutland, died morning in Quincy, at home of hitf daughter, Mrs.

James McGrath. Mr. Everin was 83 years old and had lived the greater part pf his life in West Rutland.He is survived by Two brothers, William of West Rutland, Steven, of I.ouisville, one sister, Mrs. Margaret OBrien of Ferbolt, and three nieces and two nephews. The body will be brought to Rutland today on the 2 oclock train and the funeral will be held in tot.

Bridgets church at 3 oclock- The burial will be in. the Main street ciemetery. Death of Patrick Colligan. Patrick Colligan of Pleasant street died last evening about 7.10 oclock at the home of his stepdaughter, Mrs. M.

E. McLaughlin, "after a long illness with Brights Misease. He was about 69 years old and was born in Ireland, although he had been a resident of West Rutland the greater part of his life. Besides the stepdaughter, with whom he Hved, he is survived by another stepdaughter, Mrs. Sarah McLaughlin of Providence, R.

Telephone Girls on Strike. Five' operators in the office of th Granville Telephone company at this place, left their positions at noon today, leaving the office with the head operator which crippled the service for some time. The company demanded that the girls work more hours, that' is on two Sundays each month instead of one. hs they have been Mr. Hicks from Granville, N.

John Hanley died at his home In East Hubbardton Tuesday morning af-, ter" an illness of about two weeks fol-1 lowing an operation for appendicitis.

He was 23 years of age and is survived by his mother, three brothers, Robert, William and Andrew Hanley and three sisters, Loretta, Anna and Elizabeth Hanley. Charles N. Hart died at the Proctor hospital Tuesday morning after an illness of six weeks. He was born in Brandon February 21, 1848. He enlisted in company heavy artillery, first Vermont -ragiment, on December 1, 1863, and was honorably discharged at Fort Foote, Maryland. He was married in 189 to Mary Ann McCormick.

He is survived by his three sons, Charles H. of Shirley, and Frank and George of East Jaffrey, N. also by one sister, Mrs. Joseph Hevey ot Worcester, Mass, The funeral will probably be held Thursday morning at 9 oclock at St. Alphoftsus church at Pittsford Mills.

Burial will be in the Pittsford Catholic Miss Lenore Treat and Miss Sarah Whitcomb were the guests of Miss Marion Chatterton of Rutland Tuesday. W. T. Denison has returned from a 10 days trip to Nebraska and Colorado. A lawn party and band concert will be given Thursday night on the mills school grounds by the hand- The proceeds will be used by them to buy uniforms for the baseball team.
