We do not know whether that be true or not but we do know that the Pittsburg Iron Bridge company got most of the contracts last Tuesday at Washington.

County Institute. County Superintendent Spindler has complimented a Washington county lady, Mrs. Lou Kloman, by an engagement to sing at the coming County Institute. Mrs Kloman comes direct from New York City, and will be accompanied by the alto singer of the choir in which she is leading, soprano and both will appear in the program. An appeal of Mrs.

Josephine Berkley from the decree of the Orphans' court, of Washington county, dismissing her petition for a review of partition proceedings in the George Bentley estate, was argued in the Supreme Court at Pittsburg on Tuesday. This is a case wherein Mrs. Berkley's portion of the Bentley estate is involved. At Crow Brothers1 farms, on Thursday, while husking corn, au ear was developed which somehow or other had the grains turned so that the heart of the grain faced the stalk instead of the point of the ear. The corn had grown and matured, and turned end to.

George says that's the way Democracy will be turned this Fall, 'tother end to. The Democratic marching clubs gave their first parade of the campaign last evening, and presented a very hand-sorue appearance. Headed by the city drum corps they marched over the prescribed route, aud then dismissed. Their friends were out in full force and gave the boys a good send oft'. The Parkison Escort Corps will go to West Elizabeth this evening to take part in the Republican demonstration to be held there.

Members of the club will meet promptly at six o'clock, iu their hall, and from there march to boat which leaves at 6 :30. When it comes to a contest between an opera troupu and a torchlight parade the show generally comes out second best. This was the case last night, when the parade of the Democratic clubs knocked out the ttttendance at the opera house. There are 222 registered voters in this place this fall, against 211 in 1884, a gain of 11. At coal Centre there are 137 registers this year, against 145 in 1884, a loss of Calijornia Messenger.

A new oil territory is being developed in the vicinity of IBurgettstown. A derrick is being erected on tbe farm of William McMinnins, and another on the Morrow farm, near Robb's mills. The Coal Centre people must not be so impatient about their bridge. Just wait patiently, good people. The Commissioners have been to Erie on a special Pullman Palace car excursion, for which invitations were issued by the Pittsburg Iron Bridge Company, and very like.y they had no time to look after your affairs.

A man giving his name as John Stally, and who was thought to be from West Elizabeth, was arrested in Pittsburg on Wednesday, for being drunk. He was taken to the Central Station, where, on a search being made of his clothes the turnkey pulled out roll after roll of money, in all $505,50. The county commissioners will hold no meeting here on Monday, the 5th of November. Washington Reporter. What's the matter? Are the Commissioners going off on special Pullman Falace car trip with the Pittsburg Iron Bridge Compauy.

In Washington, Pa, on Tuesday evening, some persons located in the gallery disturbed a show in the Opera House. Information was made against the parties on Wednesday morning, before Burgess Hazlett, for disorderly conduct and warrants were issued for their arrest. The county commissioners, we understand, are devoting nearly their whole time to their official duties. Washington Reporter. Is that so? Then tbe report must be untrue that they were off the other day on a Pullman Falace special car, as the guests of the Pittsburg Iron Bridge Company.

Men who are so devoted to official duty would find no time for a trip like that May be the report is not true. The Republican ladies of Canonsburg have organized a club for the campaign of which Mrs. 1). H. Fee is President; Mrs.

Dr. B. Donaldson, Vice President; Mrs. R. S.

Jones, Secretary, and Miss Lizzie Rankin Treasurer. The club will attend the Republican meeting which will be held in that town this evening, in a body. This is the second club of this kind organized in the state, the other being at Beaver Falls. Benevolent Society Meeting. There will be a moeting of the Benevolent Society, Saturday, at 2 o'clock, at the residence of Mrs.

Sampson. All committees are particularly requested to be present. By order of the president. L. Cakroi.i., Sec.
