Sister Of Stroudsburg Resident To Retire As Mount Holyoke College Professor In June THE DATT.V nECORD. Elizabeth Adams, professor of zoology, who will retire in June. Miss Adams, who graduated from Mount Holyoke in 1914, was born in Delaware, N. and is the sister of Mrs.

Charles S. Flagler. 46 North 6 Stroudsburg. As an undergraduate she was the first inner of the Sarah Streeter cup, given annually to the senior with the best posture and health record. Returning to the college the next fall.

Miss Adams became successively assistant, instructor and associate professor. Since 1928 she has been full professor, serving from 1947 to 1953 as chairman of the zoology department. During time out from her teaching duties she earned an M. A. from Columbia and a Ph.

D. from Yale, where she held an honorary fellowship. Miss Adams' research in embryology and endocrinology has brought her a number of grants, including a $3,000 award from the Rockefeller Foundation in 1937. Others have from the National Academy of Sciences, Xution- a I Society of the Sigma Xi ami National Research Council. Appenzell its third edition, Miss Adams is the author of articles on experimental embryology and endocrinology in scientific journals.

A Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and of the New York Academy of Sciences, she is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi and several professional organizations. She is on the executive committtee of the American Association of tomists, and has served on the fellowship awards committee of the American Association of University Women for the past six years and on the National Science. Foundation committee on postdoctoral fellowships in January of this year. After her retirement in June, Miss Adams expects to continue her research, which is presently concerned with attempting to produce hyperthyroidism in chick embryos by injections of xine. A veteran traveler in Great Britain, Europe and South America, she looks forward to the possibility of further with Dr.

Ann Morgan, professor emeritus of zoology, with whom she lives at 72 Woodbridge Terrace, South Hadley. Also retiring will be Roswell Gray Ham, president of Mount Holyoke; Miss Helen Patch, professor of French; Miss Florence Clement, publication editor; Mrs, Mary C. Stephenson, associate professor of psychology and education and Harrison Potter, associate professor of music. Miss Patch and Miss Clement are college classmates of Miss Adams.
