Berkshire Eagle, Friday, May 3, 1957: Music Festival For Schools Is Announced Three Concerts Scheduled for Elementary Pupils Pupils of the public elementary schools will present three musical programs under the direction of Miss Josephine A. Enright, elementary school music supervisor. The first section of the ninth annual sixth grade music festival will be at 2 Monday afternoon in South Junior High School auditorium. Three hundred twenty, six pupils from Plunkett, Hibbard. Dawes and Pomeroy schools will participate.

The program will include four massed choruses ranging from 50. to 150 members each, and four Grade 6 dance groups. Three hundred eight pupils will take part in the second section of the sixth grade festival at 2 Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 1 in North Junior High School auditor. Mint. Participating schools will bel Bartlett, Tucker, Allendale, Crane, Mercer, Pontoosuc, Rice and Russell.

The third program will bel a concert by: the combined elementary school orchestras on Wednesday, June 5, at 2 p.m. in Hibbard School auditorium. piano accompanist will be R. Mullen, principal of Crane School. Edward P.

Stanley, supervisor of physical education in the elementary schools, is adviser for the dance groups. A tape recording of the programs will be made by Joseph R. McMahon of the audio-visual department. The public is invited to attend the festival, which is an outgrowth of the daily elassroom activities in music. There will be no admission charge.

They are leaving Pittsfield at 79 a.m. Sat. morning and will be in Boston by 11 a.m. They are planning on lunching at the Copley and then shopping for the afternoon.

After shopping they plan on dinner at famous Durgin Park. The cost of chartering the coach for the day is only $135 or less than $4 per girl. Wednesday observed his 87th birthday. Mr. Pierce has been: known as the dean of Berkshire cyclists and has been active in Boy Scouts as a scoutmaster and counselor of Berkshire Council for about 35 years. The octogenarian was' honored last month by the local Rotary Club and presented a plaque. The retired GE electrical engineer was born in Turkey on May 1, 1870, and graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
