NOVEMBER 6, 1964- Photo by Edward Paoly MR. AND MRS. JOEL FRANK ZUBOVIC Joel Frank Zubovic Weds Miss Manilla Lois Sala In St. Philip Neri Church The marriage of Manilla Lois Sala and Joel Frank Zubovic took place in St. Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church of Donora on Saturday, October 10.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Manillo Sala of 427 Second Street, Donora, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Zubovic of 124 North High Street, Fayette City.

The Rev. Ettore J. DeNapoli, church pastor, officiated at the mid-day nuptial service. Arrangements of white disbuds and Baker's fern appointed the altar as the couple exchanged vows of the double-ring ceremony. Wedding music was provided by the Children's Choir directed by Sister Jean Marie, and organist for the occasion was Joseph LaMendola.

Among the selections sung was the "Ave Maria" as the bride entered the church. A bouquet of white carnations was placed before the statue of the Blessed Mother by the bride. Miss Sala was given in marriage by her father. Her bridal gown of pure silk sata peau was fashioned with a basque bodice, long pointed sleeves and had an Italian neckline. It was styled with a cummerbund studded with tiny beads and crystals, and a semi bell skirt with removable long court train which was "poufed up" for the reception.

Her threetiered veil of pure silk illusion was held by a coronation crown of pearls and crystals. Her flowers were a cascade arrangement of dusty pink sweetheart roses accented with white miniature 'mums and ivy streamers. To fulfill all bridal traditions Manilla wore a sixpence in her shoe. Attendants In Emerald Green Maid of honor was Joan Bier of Butler, the bride's former classmate in nurses training. Bridesmaids were Constance Paro of Donora and Rose Ann Carbone Chicchiani of Melvindale, Michigan, formerly of Donora.

The attendants were high school classmates of the bride. They were identically attired in street length gowns of sata peau in emerald green, The gowns were fashioned with fitted bodices, sheath skirts, cap sleeves and had scoop necklines. Their three tiered full overskirts were enhanced at the waists by two small rosettes. For headpieces they had matching velvet flowers and leaves with brief veils and wore white gloves and shoes tinted to match their attire. John Fields of Belle Vernon, a former college classmate of the bridegroom, was best man and ushers were Charles Gismoni of Uniontown and David Homanics of Fayette City, the latter a brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

Both mothers wore corsages of cymbidium orchids with their ensembles, the bride's mother in green crepe with black leather accessories, and Mrs. Zubovic in turquoise with tapestry accessories. Wedding Reception Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held at the church social room with approximately 200 guests present. A large three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a bride and groom, centered the buffet table. Out-of-town guests were from Michigan, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Uniontown, and surrounding communities.

The wedding reception was catered by Mrs. Clara Mannarino assisted by Marie Brizzi, Louise LaMendola, Kitty Pappasergi, and Louise Martinelli. Pictures of the day's activities were taken by Edward Paoly of Charleroi. When the couple left for a wedding trip to Washington, D. the bride was wearing a two-piece eggshell nubby wool suit with cocoa brown accessories and a white orchid corsage.

They have since returned and are residing in a newly furnished home in New Eagle. The bride was graduated from Donora High School with the class of 1960 and from St. Francis School of Nursing in 1963. She is now on the nursing 1 staff of the Monongahela Memorial Hospital in New Eagle. Her husband who is employed at Allied Chemical Corporation in Newell, is a graduate Bellmar High School, class of 1959, and from California State College in 1964.

Manilla was honored at a pre-wedding shower given by her cousin, Mrs. Thomas Pullion at her home in Charleroi two weeks before the wedding with 30 guests present. A delicious lunch was served and the bride received many beautiful and useful gifts for her new home. The rehearsal party was given by Joel's parents at their home in Fayette City. Refreshments were served and the couple presented their attendants with lovely remembrance gifts.
