Four other new misfiles were paraded to the accompaniment of charges that such weapons were 'necessary because of the U.S. war in Vietnam. Defense Minister Andrei A.

Grechko in his keynote address warned the United States about the "danger of a new world war." "The crinfmal war of Amer': can imperialists in Vietnam causes deep anxieties among the 'people of the world," Grechko said. "Imperialism aggravates international tension and the danger of a new world war." But for the most part, the Soviets spoke softly and showed off their big sticks. Display New Weapons All told, six new weapons rolled across Red Square beneath the proud eyes of the Kremlin's rulers who stood atop VI. Lenin's Mausoleum in which measured 70-feet long longer than the American Polaris. New anti-aircraft rockets, mounted on a tracked vehicle, for use in rough terrain such as Vietnam and especially deadly against planes.

"No army in the world has such powerful rockets," a commentator said as the missile hardware rolled past. Other weapons, seen in previous parades, were described as "anti-missile missiles," ICBMs mounted on mobile launchers and antiaircraft rockets. (ICBM) which an official commentary said "can be used for intercontinental and orbital launchings." It rumbled across Red Square only days after U.S. Defense Secretary Robert S. McNamara said Soviets were building a "FpBS" orbital missile that cant be launched into orbit and brought to Earth on a target by ground command.

WASHINGTON (AP) The nation's Jobless rate rose to 4.3 per cent last month, the highest point in two years, the Labor Department said today. Commissioner Arthur M. Ross of the Bureau of Labor Statistics declined to say whether the rise in unemployment indicated an economic lag, but he said a smaller-than-usual increase in employment and a slight drop in the average work week in October "were certainly disappointing." The unemployment rate was up two-tenths of one per cent from September and up five-tenths from August for the biggest two-month rise in seven years. In actual numbers there were about 56,000 more unemployed In October than September, boosting the total to 2,951,000.

Total employment rose some 550,000, about the usual expected number for the month, to 181,000. Working Hours Shrink The average work week was down slightly to 38.1 hOurs in October. This was more than half an hour less than a year ago. The bureau said much of the rise in the unemployment rate was 'due to a larger-than-usual increase in the civilian labor force, which rose about 600,000 to a total' of 78,132,000 in October. The main rise in jobless workers was among men and teenagers while the employment situation for women remained virtually unchanged.

The total number of unemployed was 500,000 higher. than October 1966, the bureau said. After passing the truck, Schena said, the two cars stopped suddenly and the two men leaped out. Gateway Regional School District To Expand From- 6 Grades to 13 fendant John J. Kelley, 53, of Watertown, was one of two men who participated in the actual robbery, and that Mrs. Patricia J. Diaferio, 32, of Boston, acted as a lookout at a barricade erected by the robbers across Route 3 to divert other traffic.

Judge Continues Trial of Mother In Child's Death HUNTINGTON Voters in the five member towns of the Gateway Regional School District voted last night to expand the district's scope from the present Grade 7-12 organization to include kindergarten through Grade 12. The votes, taken at special town meetings here, in Montgomery, Russell, Worthington and Middlefield, make the region the first in the immediate Western Massachusetts area to expand a six-grade regional system to include both elementary and secondary grades.

However, in Berkshire County, the South Berkshire Regional District was begun as a K-12 system, and the newly approved Adams-Cheshire regional district will also start with all grades under its jurisdiction. An ultimate K-12 setup for the Wahconah Regional school -district was recommended last year by former Supt. Thomas H. White and his associate superintendents. However, that plan has been effectively killed, at least for the present, by a Dalton decision to solve school crowding problems by building its own elementary school, rather than Joining in a regional junior high school.

The Votes Votes by towns on the expansion were: Huntington, 114-66; Montgomery, 63-0; Russell, 63- 36; Worthington, 75-31, and Middlefield, 33-24. UNITED NATIONS, N.Y. (UPI) A Superior Court judge today denied a motion for a directed verdict of dismissal of charges against a Christian Scientist mother charged with manslaughter in the death of her 5-yearold daughter. Hudson had taken the motion under advisement Monday. Following the ruling, testimony resumed in the trial of Mrs. Dorothy Sheridan, 30, of Harwich. She was charged with manslaughter after her daughter Lisa died last March of lung Infection following a three-week illness. I The State contends proper medical attention would have saved the child's life.

Mrs. Sheridan said she "con- stantly adhered to the teaching of Christian Science with respect to healing physical illness through spiritual means," tl OAS tll OD tiRE In his opening remarks, Markham told the 11 men and one woman in the jury that the prosecution, will prove that Kelley, dressed as a policeman, not only robbed the truck with an as yet unidentified accomplice but was observed driving the truck at a point one-half mile away from the robbery scene, and once again a short time time later in the town of Whitman. The prosecutor said the government also would prove that Mrs. Diaferio, an attractive blonde mother of four, was seen by witnesses with the third defendant, Thomas R. Richards, at the barricade diverting traffic from the highway.

It was passed as follows: Huntington, 119-45; Montgomery, 63-0; Russell, 62-0; Worth. ington, 75-31, and Middlefield, 31-20. The two Middlefield votes had been expected to be close because, theoretically, that town, with a relatively new school and ample class space, has been considered to have the least to gain from an expanded regional framework.

However, Middlefield Will now have the bonded indebtedness of its school taken over by the regional district. Towns also voted on their shares of $12,000 requested byt the Gateway Regional School District Committee for preliminary expenses for a proposed middle school.
