and Mrs. John R. Carson of 146 Ida Avenue, Donora, spent five days in South Florida while serving aboard the USS Northampton, the United States' first command ship which operates out of Norfolk, Virginia, with the Atlantic Fleet. Northampton made the recreational visit to Port Everglades, just south of Fort Lauderdale, at the height of the vacation season in Florida. Rummage Sale 9 a.m.

The members of Elrama and West Elizabeth Methodist Churches, who were on the committee for Missions, discussed plans to bring four Missionaries to the churches.

The dates were set for April 28, 29, 30 and May 1. On April 28, the Reverend Gilbert Bennett, a missionary from the Congo will be guest speaker at a Morning Brunch at the Elrama Church at 9:30 a.m. At one o'clock, he will be guest speaker at a luncheon at W. Elizabeth Methodist Church and then at 7:45 p.m. he will again speak at a service in Elrama.

April 29, Mrs. Larry Eisen-berg from Rhodesia will be the guest speaker at a 9:30 a.m. breakfast at West Elizabeth Methodist Church, followed by a luncheon engagement at Elra ma and evening services at 7:45 p.m. at West Elizabeth. National Bank reported net operating earnings for the first quarter of 1966 of $3,182,689. or $1.05 per share, compared with or 93 cents per share for the comparable period of 1965 an increase of 12.9 per cent. Total operating income for the three months amounted to $18,038,096, compared with 540,693 in the first quarter of 1965.

Frank E. Agnew. chair man and Malcolm E. Lambing, president, said that a significant portion of the income im provement was due to an in crease in loans outstanding and a rise in lending rates. A rise in the average rate of return on the bank's investment portfolio also contributed to the better first quarter performance.

Va. DONORA Kent C. Putnam Is Keynote Speaker At N.E. Republican Meet; Candidates Heard It Jewels Presented At Meeting Of Advance Lodge 697, LO.O.F. said.

Putnam, at a recent meeting of the New Eagle Council of Republican Women discussed "Problems With Our Present Constitution and Revisions Needed to Make it Realistic." The session, held in the community room of the First Federal Savings and Loan Association, Monongahela Branch, was opened by the acting president, Mrs. Jean Combs.

Secretary Martha Bautz read minutes of the last meeting and letters of resignation of President Margaret Gregory and Vice President Mrs. Margaret Lee. The treasurer's report was given by Mrs. Virginia Barnhart. During the business portion of the meeting, election of a new president and vice president was conducted Mrs.

Combs was elected president and Mrs. Laura Marimpietri, vice president. They were installed by Mrs. Thomas S. Baily, corresponding secretary of the Pennsylvania Council of Republican Women, and following the "swearing in" ceremony, she addressed the Council briefly.

Mrs. Grace Smith, program chairman for the evening, welcomed the members and guests and introduced the toastmaster, John Matthews, who in turn introduced the hopeful candidates THURS. FRI. SAT. ONLY ALWAYS FIRST QUALITY and guest speakers.

Invocation was given by Lil-burn L. Smith. Attorney Davis Yohe, associate of Peacock, Keller and Yohe, Attorneys, Washington, and practicing attorney in Monongahela, was the first speaker. He was followed by Arliegh Cale, Republican candidate to U. S.

Congress from the 26th District; David B. Moses, Republican candidate to State Legislature for the 46th District: Frank Fazzolare, Republican candidate to State Legislature for 48th District; Americo Mele. city chairman of Republican Council; and Curt Naesar. Republican candidate to State Legislature for 48th District. Mr.

Putnam, also an associ ate of Peacock, Keller and Yohe, gave the main address of the evening. Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the meeting by Mrs. Barnhart, Miss Bautz, Mrs. Kathryn Houseman, Mrs. Kittv Lincoln, Mrs.

Marimpiet ri and Mrs. Smith. Guests who attended from Monongahela were: Dr. and Mrs. William F.

McElvany, Burns, Grace Rutz, Lydia Mor ton, Mrs. Hanna Curdle, Mrs. Catherine Hodgson and Miss Karen Caserta. for May 6 in the Donora Community Center. A Rummage Sale was discussed for the end of May.

A Rally Day will be held in Charleroi on June 24. Each church in the valley will represent different countries and will present the church customs and characteristics of that particular country. Germany will be represented by the Donora group. "Road to Gethsemene" was the title of her devotional service. Margaret Raisbeck was the organist and her solo was "God Moves In Mysterious Ways." Margaret Hubay read a poem "Call to Meditation." Scripture reading was by Caroline "Meditation" and after a group hymn Caroline Evans read "Ballad of the Trees and the Master." "Gardens was the theme of a two-part presentation given by Robina LaClair and Betty Crosser.

Mrs. LaClair spoke on the Garden of Eden and Mrs. Crosser on the Garden of Gethsemene. A poem "Time for Prayer." was read by Linda Hudson. A hymn closed the meeting and blessing of the food was given by Lorraine Evans.

Easter decorations were used Donora Women Hear Special Church Services lv fur vV. ownV casuals Miss Wineland Guest Of Honor At Recent Party A party was in order on Saturday, April 9, for Theresa (Terree) Marie Wineland, 7 year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Wineland of RD 2, Frye Station, who was celebrating her natal day of April 6. The party was held on Saturday for the convenience of the children.

Terree is a first grade student at St. Anthony's Parochial School and is taught by Sister Amelia. The party room and the birthday cake, baked by Terree's mother, was decorated in keeping with spring and Easter. Musical chairs, a favorite with the children, and many other games were played with prizes being awarded the winners. In addition, each child was given a prize and favor to take home Terree has a sister and two brothers, Dana, Dean and Ronald Daniel.
