Five Generations. Daniel S. Dunn, of Sunny Side, has had the remarkable experience, as a grave digger, of having buried individuals of five generations in one family: Great-grandmother Rue, of Miles-ville; her son Archie; then Archie's son Alexander; then an infant child of Alexander; then a child of Dollie, daughter of Alexander, making the great-great-grandchild of the first named, ail buried at Fell's churchyard. Greene county has had a genuine surprise in the llaskill well, ten miles west of Wayncsburg, which struck oil on the 21st, in the third sand, at 2.300 feet. The oil tlowed to the top of the derrick and is running down into the creek.

It would thus seem that the "belt" extends from Washington into Greene, and probably crosses the Monongahela near Geneva. The Edit-Orr of the West Newton paper speaks of a birth in that town, and explains its sex, by saying that the body will grow up to ''manipulate a cotton fabric on articles." We can guess it: He means to wash the dishes with a rag. The Blaine Party. The Blaine party, consisting of himself, his two sons, and Hon S. B.

Elkins, expect to reach Washington to-day about noon. They will be under the care of the students, and will be escorted upon their arrival to the residence of Mr. Blaine's uncle, the Hon. John H. Ewing.

In the afternoon the distinguished visitor will speak from a platform built upon the college campus. A grand reception will be given him in the college building this evening. The JSdW Railroad. Engineer J. M.

Byers and corps are busy surveying the new line of railroad from the mouth of Peters creek to the vicinity of Finleyville, thence to connect with the Chartiers near Wood-ville. The ject evidently is to get a line around the city of Pittsburg for the passage of through-bound freight between the east and west. This has been the policy of the P. R. R.

for some years, and the construction of the Port Perry bridge was to facilitate it. But the local business of the P. V. C. has become so great and its yard room in the city is so limited that further relief is desirable.

If the proposed iink is constructed west bound freights will leave the P. 11. R. at Brin-lou, cross the Port Perry bridge, come up the P. V.

C. to the junction with the new road; thence to the Chartiers Valley road, and join the Panhan dle at Manstield. The Methodist Episcopal church is being decorated with flowers and ferns for The Oid Folks' Day services of to morrow. Mr, Newton Carsau has been taken to his home, in West liellevernon. where his brothers attend htm, and ho was reported this morning as being considerably qti eter and better.

Silveus, of California, will preach in the Cumberland Presbyter- ian Church, Sixth avenue, Pittsburg to- morrow morning and evening, The opposition houses are copvists and imitators not competitors, We have but one policy to serve the public with the best clothing obtainable for the money.
