Swift, formerly of Stafford Avenue and Pennswood Manor, died Thursday afternoon at Adams Manor after an illness. His wife, the former Mary Oren-dorff, died in 1996. Bom in Scranton, son of the late Joseph Pops and Mary Flynn Swift, he was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School.

He was employed at the family business, the Swift Cafe on Providence Road, before its closing. He was a member of St. Patricks Church, West Scranton. Surviving are a brother, Joseph J. Swift Scranton; three nephews, a niece, grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Thomas Jake and Eugene, and a sister, Mary York. An entombment service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Cathedral Cemetery, by Monsignor Paul F. Leonard, pastor, St. Patricks Church.

Ada Harrington 6elton A memorial service has been scheduled for Dr. Ada Harrington Belton, 59, of Hattiesburg, formerly of Scranton, who died Sept. 7, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Dr. Wesley J.

Belton. Raised in New Orleans, daughter of Rev. Dr. Robert F. Harrington and stepdaughter of Sylvia Harrington, she was reared in the Methodist tradition and, while in Scranton, she was an active member of Bethel A.M.E.

Church, serving on the Steward Board, church choirs and various church organizations. She earned a bachelor of arts degree from Dillard University, master's degree in education from Southern University, Baton Rouge, and a Ph.D from Fordham University, New York City. In 1979, Dr. Belton joined the faculty of Keystone Junior College. She founded and served as president of the African American Arts Alliance.

She founded and advised the Multi-Ethnic Cultural Association and the College Reading Teachers and Adult Literacy Association. Spurred by these successes, she organized the Keystone State Reading Association and the Pennsylvania Association of Developmental Education. A strong and passionate advocateof the Right to Read, she was selected to make a presentation at the World Congress of Reading in Stockholm, Sweden. Prior to joining Keystone, she was employed by Marywood College as the reading coordinator in the Act 101 Program. In 1993, the University of Scranton honored her with its Phi Delta Kappa Educator of the Year Award.

Also that year, she was awarded the Margaretta Be-lin Chamberlin Chair for Distinguished Faculty Service at Keystone. In 2000, she was elected to the Board of Trustees of Keystone College. Her last teaching position was at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg. She shed a lovely light and special joy on all those who knew her. A memorial service will be conducted June 7 at 11 a.m.

Loder, 92, of 425 Bard-well Road, Factoryville, died Thursday at Allied Skilled Nursing Center. She was the widow of Harry B. Loder, who died Nov. 22, 1996. Born July 20, 1910, in Scranton, daughter of the late Arthur and -Etta Woodruff Alexander, she was a housewife and was of the Methodist faith.

She enjoyed being in the garden. Surviving are a daughter, Joan Burleigh, Factoryville; a son, Harry, Nesquehoning; two brothers, Arthur and Frank Alexander, both of Florida, and a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Ruth Walker; two sisters, June and Ruth Alexander, and three grandsons. The funeral will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment, Clarks Green Cemetery.

Arrangements, Anthony P. Lit-win Funeral Home, Factoryville. May 30, 2003 Howard John Walker 69, of Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Friday at the James Square Nursing Home, Syracuse. His wife, the former Shirley E. Jones, preceded him in death.

Bom Sept. 24, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, son of the late Roger and Grace Clark Walker, he was a 1952 graduate of GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre, and served with the Air Force during the Korean War. Surviving are a son, Howard Dupont; two daughters, Robin Walker-Spence and April Walker, both of Wilkes-Barre, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert, and three sisters, Christina Carter and Dorothy and Marie Walker. The ftmeral will be Tuesday with services at 11 a.m.

Muir, a longtime resident of Scranton, didd Friday in the VNA Hospice Unit at Community Medical Center after an illness.

She was the widow of Robert B. Muir, who died in 1979. Bom in Scranton, daughter of the late Robert and Frances Price Soulsby, she was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Scranton, and American Legion Green Ridge Post 908 Ladies Auxiliary for more than 50 years. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Muir Herie, Scranton; a brother, Frank Soulsby, Moosic; a granddaughter, a grandson, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Soulsby, in 1996. The ftmeral will be Tuesday with services at 10 a.m. in the Howard J. Snowdon Funeral Home 1810 Sanderson by the Rev. Harold K.

Stanco May 29, 2003 Anthony R. Stanco, West Scranton, died Thursday at Adams Manor alter a brief illness. His wife is the former Helen A. Nell McDonnell. They would have celebrated 57 years of marriage on Aug.

9. Born in Scranton, son of the late Joseph and Celia Balester Stanco, he was a member of St. Davids Church. Educated in Scranton public schools, he was a graduate of Scranton Central High School. An Army veteran of World War he served in France, England, Germany and Scotland and received the Good Conduct Medal, the European Service Medal with three Bronze Stars, the Distinguished Unit Badge and the World War II Victory Medal.

Before retirement, he was employed at the Tobyhanna Army Depot for 25 years. He was a wood pattern maker and a cabinet maker. He was a member of the National Rifle Association of America, the Law Enforcement Alliance and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1400. He was an extremely kind person and always had a good word for everyone. A loving husband, father, grandfather, he will be deeply missed by all.

Also surviving are two sons, Joseph Clarks Summit, and Jerome, Pit-tston Township; two daughters, Mary Lou Beam, Scranton, and Celia A. Ci-mino, Taylor; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandsons, nieces, and nephews. The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Thomas J. Hughes Funeral Home 1240 St.
