Satnnl yt Jujy im Tiger Matchick's 2 Out Clout In 9th Whips Baltimore, 5-4 By MIKE RECHT Associated Press Sports Writer Tom Matchick was the talk of Florida spring training in 1967, and they were saying plenty of good things about him later in the minor leagues, too, that year. But none of it was repeated in the major leagues--until Friday night. Now, with one swing of the bat, the rookie shortstop has said it all over again, and the whole town of Detroit is buzzing. More than 53,900 Detroit fans with pennant fever were on hand when Matchick spoke his piece, a two-out, full-count, two-run homer in the last of the ninth that lifted the American League-leading Tigers to a 5-4 victory over Baltimore.
