Mr. Breslin is the race director for PCAA of NEPA's inaugural Father's Day 5-Mile Run on Sunday at 9 a.m. at Scranton Memorial Stadium. Running the risk Fathers Day 5-Mile Run for prostate cancer set for Sunday at Scranton Memorial Stadium but the local ABC affiliate snagged a whopping 63 percent of the audience in the 6 to 7 a.m.

time slot during the May sweeps, according to Nielsen Media Research. "WNEP provides a radio station-like morning newscast," said Philip Condron, president of Condron Company an advertising firm that also tracks ratings for its clients. "It has personalities, news and weather, and they are delivered like a radio station delivers it." Rating and share are two ways of measuring TV view-ership of a program. Rating gives the program's viewers as a percentage of all households with televisions. Share is the percentage of households with televisions turned on at the time the program aired.

Numbers don't lie While WNEP scored a 15.4 rating and a 63 percent share of the audience for the 6 to 7 a.m. time slot that leads into the national morning shows, WBRE-TV had a miniscule 1.3 rating and a 5 percent share. During the 5 to 5:30 p.m. news broadcast, WNEP scored a 12.231 while WBRE had a 3.18. WYOU, which ceased broadcasting news earlier this year, had a 3.38 with its alternative programming for the time period.

At 6 p.m., WNEP scored a 20.342 compared to WBRE's 4.710 and WYOU's 0.61. The only victory for WBRE, the local NBC affiliate, came in the 7 to 7:30 p.m. time slot with "Wheel of Fortune" scoring a 9.118 to WNEP news' 8.617 and WYOU's "The Insider," which scored an 1.02. Mr. Condron said the 11 p.m.

numbers were likely harder to swallow for WBRE. The long-time partner of the vacated WYOU newscast, WBRE should have expected to gain the audience abandoned by its former sister cast, Mr. Condron said. "WNEP obviously took what audience WYOU had," he said. "Those CBS viewers had a choice on where to go for local news.

They didn't go to WBRE." The 11 p.m. time period saw WNEP with a 12.639 up over the 10.334 it scored during the March sweeps, while WBRE had a 4.012, identical numbers to March. Breslin said he has resolved to not only beat cancer, but to strengthen his mission to encourage others. On Sunday Mr. Breslin will direct the first PCAA Father's Day 5-mile run. The event is part of Mr. Bres-lin's efforts to raise awareness and to encourage testing.

Fun run The run is open to men and women as well as high school students and corporations. It will begin at Scranton Memorial Stadium and take each runner up a slight grade on the North Scranton Expressway and onto Mulberry Street. From Mulberry Street, the course turns onto Adams Avenue and will wind past the Iron Furnaces toward South Washington Avenue. The longest stretch will be along the Lackawanna River Corridor before the run concludes back at the stadium. "I wanted to give the runners the atmosphere of a marathon," Mr.

Breslin said. "There will be water stations and timing points and when the runners enter the stadium, their names will be called out. If you have never run a marathon before or, if you have never finished in a stadium before, the adrenalin, cheering from the spectators, the Olympic sense, will all be there. It'll be quite the experience." Contact the writer: sbrowntimesshamrock.com. BY STACY BROWN STAFF WRITER bout 9 years ago, Robert Breslin started the Prostate Cancer Awareness Alliance of Northeast Pennsylvania.

At the time, Mr. Breslin was in his late 30s and, as far as he knew, he was healthy There was nothing, neither family history nor physical failings, to suggest that he had anything to be concerned about. "I thought starting the PCAA of NEPA was a good cause, a way to give back," Mr. Breslin said. "I never had any other ties to prostate cancer.

Nothing that had come close. This was purely about giving back." As part of his advocacy work with the Alliance, Mr. Breslin held awareness events where he encouraged men to undergo screenings and testing. He also began regular testing and screening and, two years ago, his doctors noticed a suspicious spike in his prostate-specific antigen or PSA. Tests save lives The benchmark number, or the figure that's cause for alarm, for PSA is a 4, Mr.

Breslin said. Previously his numbers were in the 1.6 range, but within a year, it had jumped to 3.2, a sure sign that something was amiss, he said. "Going back two years, I never took a spike," he said. "My first test was when I was 38 and I was just being part of the group IF YOU GO What: The inaugural Prostate Cancer Awareness Alliance of Northeast Pennsylvania's Father's Day 5-Mile Run When: Sunday at 9 a.m. Where: Scranton Memorial Stadium Details: The run is aimed at helping to raise awareness and to encourage testing for prostate cancer.

Married with two teenagers, the Scranton native said his family took the news that he had prostate cancer in stride. He said because of his work with the PCAA of NEPA and his regular testing for the disease, his family was obviously concerned but still not overwhelmed.

It was that attitude and support that helped Mr. Breslin, 47, continue his relentless search for a cure and his non-stop advocacy work that has led many others to test regularly "Early detection is what we preach, because it is so important," Mr. Breslin said. "Early detection definitely was a key for me." Known on office instant messages as The Witch, she terrorizes underlings, fires the man who wants her job, and orders Andrew to marry her. How that happens is, she's a Canadian in danger of being deported, she imperiously ignored the law, and now she figures if she gets ery no fast food stores or franchise chains, and a waterfront that looks less like a working fishing harbor than a tourist resort. Perhaps that's because the movie was filmed not in Alaska, but in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Alas- married she'll get her green card.
