'The ladies who have had charge of the high school lunch room will picnic to-morrow at Jackson. Park. Most of our people evidently forgot that Wednesday was "Flag day." as very few flags were displayed.

HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. i The program for the graduating ex- c-rcises at the Englewood High school i commences with the Seniors' dance at the Men's club this evening.

On Wednesday the Juniors give their reception. On Thursday at 8 p. the graduating exercises will be held at the Normal school assembly hall. On Friday evening, the Alumni will banquet and dance at the Masonic Temple, 6730 Wentworth avenue. The class numbers ninety and the girls exceed the boy-s about six to one.

While the building of the piers for the iron continues, and' has- extended as far west as Normal avenue, no work lias been done on the structural part, -which ends at State street. The report that the Rock Island was preventing the company from crossing their tracks is not true, and the delay is caused simply by lack of iron and a desire to have the concrete in the piers harden more. Some of the iron is here, stored at 61st street, but the higher beams for the great height necessary to cross the steam railroad elevated tracks, is expected this week, and, as soon as it arrives the work will be pushed at the rate of 200 feet a day. Nichols, chief detective of the Wabash railroad, did 1 a nice piece of work Monday in ferreting out the men that robbed the private car of Thomas H. Hubbard, while at the Polk street depot. June 2, and securing the suitcase and other valuables of the New York millionaire. George DeForrest Barton, who was his guest. Mr.

Barton had offered reward for the recovery of his gold watch, which, had been a present from his father in. 1862, and we hope Mr. Nichols will receive the full amount. ODD FELLOWS' MEMORIAL. The Odd lodges of Englewood.

A A CLUB. The Auburn Park Golf Club since its organization, has taken its place among the best clubs of the county, and the excellence of its links, convenience of its club house and the ac- eessability of the grounds, as well as its choice membership, makes it a feature of south side vacation life. To-morrow there will he a members' team match and on the St. "Wednesday, the regular weekly Ladies" day, there will be a one club match. Preparations are being made for a patriotic celebration of the Fourth of July and the 36-hole medal play handicap promises to be most interesting- BREHM TO SPEAK.

Miss Marie C. Brehm. the president of Illinois "Woman's Christian Temperance Union will speak twice in Englewood next Sunday. In the morning she will occupy the pulpit of the Covenant Baptist church at 60th place and Normal avenue, and in the evening will give an address in the Eaglewood Baptist church at the corner of Stewart and Englewood avenues. Miss Brehm ranks as one of the finest platform speakers in America, and will be on the program at a number of Chautauquas during the summer.

As an organizer she has few equals. and her extensive travels have given her a wide range of thought. The people of Englewood will do well to avail themselves of the opportunity to hear this brilliant orator. A I RECEPTION. The alumni of the Englewood High School will give a reception and banquet at Mason'c Temple, 6740 "Wentworth avenue, Friday evening.
