Betz even ly uiu April 6,2009 April 9,2009 Mrs. Amelia A. Betz, 67, of Hometown lost her battle with cancer Thursday at St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, with her family by her side.

She was the wife of Jerome S. Betz. They were married 48 years. Amelia was born in Philadelphia, a daughter of Anna (Niemiec) Severa of McAdoo and the late Stanley Severa. She was a graduate of McAdoo High School and was a member of St.

Jerome's Church, Tamaqua. Amelia was preceded in death, in addition to her father, by an infant twin sister, Adele. Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are sons, Jerome E. Betz and his wife, Nancy of Hometown; and Samuel E. Betz and his wife, Sherri, of Andreas; grandsons, Jerome in, Michael J.

and Logan; a brother, Stanley of McAdoo; and sisters, Ann Marie Har-tranft of McAdoo; and Loret-ta Severa of New York. The funeral will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Lamar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown. Interment will be in Sky View Memorial Park, Hometown. Friends may call Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.

14, 1924, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary (Shovlin) Mulreaney Eugene was a graduate of Hazleton High School and was a lifelong member of St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church, Hazleton. He lived in the Hazleton area until Dpppm- ber 2007 at which time he took up residence at his son's home in Timonium, Md. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family Eugene was an Army veteran of World War II where he served in the Italian Campaign. Upon discharge, he was the recipient of a Battle Star, Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.

He retired from Conrail Railroad after 42 years of service and then enjoyed his free time by playing golf, cards, following Notre Dame football and spending time with family and friends. Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, Thomas S. Mihalik April 9,2009 Thomas S. Mihalik, 73, of South Bennett Court, Hazleton, died Thursday at Mountain City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Hazleton, where he had been a guest. Born in Hazleton on Dec.

21, 1935, he was the son of Anna (Melochick) Mihalik, Hazleton, and the late Joseph Mihalik. Prior to his retirement, he was employed 5 by Hughes Printing Company Stroudsburg, for 32 years. Thomas was a veteran of Naval service. He was a member of Holy Trinity Slovak Roman Catholic Church, Hazleton, and the Printers' Union. In addition to his father, Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard E.

Mihalik, in 1998. Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his daughter, Mary Ann Fornarol and her husband, Charles, of Schwenksville; his son, Thomas M. Mihalik and his wife, Ava, of Naples, his twin brother, Joseph, of Hazleton; his brother, Lawrence, of Hazleton; his sister, Bernadine Goldsworthy and her husband, Raymond, of Nescopeck; and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from John J.

Ravina, 78, of Boise, Idaho, passed away March 29. He was born in Freeland on Jan. 17, 1931, the son of the late John and Emma (Turri) Ravina. John graduated from Perm State University with a degree in civil engineering, where he also played on the basketball team. He served in the Army as a second lieutenant in Japan for two years.

He worked for the Army Corps of Engineers for 42 years, and retired as the chief of the Foundations, Materials and Survey Division in Honolulu, Hawaii, where he lived with his family for 36 years. After moving to Boise, Idaho, in 1995, he and his wife, Phyllis, enjoyed traveling on cruises to Alaska, the Panama Canal, the Caribbean and Mediterranean. John was an avid golfer and attained the accomplishment of several hole-in-ones. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred (Fessick) Ravina, in 1965. He will be missed by many friends and by his family wife, Phyllis; children and spouses, Sharon and Kevin, Ruth and Terry and John; his three grandchildren, Andrew, Anna and Frankie; and his sisters, Dolores Hen-dersched, Sandy Valley and Emma Jean Peters, Freeland.

The family sends a special thanks to all the doctors and staff at St. Luke's Hospital and Marquis for the kind and loving care he received. 6, 1912, he was the son of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Schovetska) Toback. He spent the past 55 years in Beaver Township after moving from Bloomsburg. Stanley was employed as a farmer and had also worked in Bloomsburg Mills for over 20 years as a table clerk. He was also a member of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Nuremberg.

Stanley was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by his wife, Anna Plaf-can Toback, who passed away in 1983; brothers, Frank, Michael, John and Joseph Toback; sisters, Josephine Eisenhower, Marion Perlinn and Laura Kanav-age; and stepchildren, Alma Pearce, Eileen Shafer and Pauline Ciotola. Surviving are stepsons, Robert Plafcan, Beaver Township; and George Plafcan, Danville; sisters, Eleanor Toback and Frances Sluck, both of Shenandoah; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. His funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. from Har-man Funeral Homes and Crematory Inc. (West), 1265 Rock Glen Road, Rock Glen.

The Rev. Patrick McDowell will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Nuremberg.
