Tovnsend Club Meet In Tulare Sunday Wilfred Howard, a member of the Townsend legislative committee, will discuss pension issues Sunday afternoon at a meeting of the Tri-County Townsend Club in Tulare. The meeting will be held In the Central Grammar School. Mr.

Howards address is scheduled for 2 p. m. following a basket dinner at 12:30. He will explain the Townsend-ltes request to Gov. Earl Warren to adopt a law making the amount of grant paid to aged and blind flexible with the changes in the cost of living.

This, he says, will eliminate the necessity for additional laws periodically. Other benefits asked by the Townsendites include the withdrawal of the relative responsibility clause and lowering of the minimum age limits. Youth Of Nazarene Church Plan Program Youth of the Church of the Nazarene at 420 W. Murray st. will portray the Christmas story in life size scenes through a life size picture frame at their regular 6:30 evening service Sunday.

The characters presenting the scenes of The Nativity will be in full costume and spotlighted as the carolers sing. The younger youth of junior age will present a special Christmas program in the regular evening service at 7:30 oclock. The Christmas story entitled Joy to the World will be given by singing and reading choirs and a trum-peteer. The choirs will be robed and the trumpeteer costumed in old English attire. These two special services will be presented in the main auditorium of the church.

BRIMFUL OF PROBLEMS Seaman Salvatore Fanfarelli, of New Haven, stepped off the cruiser Fargo at Brooklyn Navy Yard, with this giant sombrero. That didnt bother anybody until he showed up at the Brooklyn USO-Navy YMCA and asked Teddy Thayer, a USO volunteer, to wrap it as a gift. Teddy is pondering the problem. Phone 4-6S2L Sentence Lightened On Marijuana Charge Alfredo Galvin, 15, Visalia, escaped San Quentin sentence from Superior Judge Frederick E. Stone this morning because of the favorable report of investigation on charges against him of possession l0f marijuana. The report shows, said the court, that you are a user of the narcotic and not a seller.

That you are a user is a pity and in hope that you will be able to break the habit the court will impose local incarceration. Should you not reform and be brought into this court on the same charge again you will go to San Quentin. This court as well as all others in the county is determined to stamp out the sale and use of marijuana and that determination starts with our peace officers who are equally conscious of the harm that narcotic can do. Probation was granted Galvin on condition he would serve six months in Tulare county road camp in an effort to break the habit. Probation will be elective for a period of two years during which time he must make periodic reports on all of his activties and whereabouts to court through the probation department.

When arrested Nov, 6 two marijuana cigarettes were found in his possession. Robert Askins' Rites Held In Woodlake Final services were conducted in Woodlake this morning for Robert Daniel Askins, who died Wednesday The Rev. Harlow Willard officiated. Mrs. A.
