Released Executive housing, Director James H. England, the 24 page report gives special credit to Mayor O'Dwyer for his "enlightened social and leadership" and to "the voters who are the real policy makers." For the period from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31. 1947.

it tells of expanding its program by onethird -from 38 to 50 projects. Six of the new projects were made possible by the voters approval of housing propositions increasing State funds for housing by $135.000.000 and covering subsidies of $1,000.000 annually. Aimed at assisting veterans. six additional projects. the report states, were made possible by a new kind of city' program under which approximately 5,700 apartments will rent at $12.50 a room.

This will be financed by a sale of Authority bonds guaranteed by the City. Opened here in Brooklyn in 1947 were the Marcy Housing project to provide 1,717 apartments and the project in Brownsville, having 1,338 ments. The report refers, to the Authority as "the nation's biggest landlord" housing over 32.000 families in 21 permanent projects, eight emergency projleets for veterans, five sites and one rehabilitation group. It required only $1.67 a month to subsidize a family in the projects in 1917. which meant that the Authority was able to turn back more than 66 per cent of the maximum cash subsidies available to it.
