The Kerr spokesmen explained that the company "is in the middle of a jurisdictional dispute between Brooklyn and Hoboken checkers," that it is a matter for the M. L. One Dewey aide said the Governor may delay his decision until next Spring. Dewey Fight Indica ed A possible indication that Dewey may seek re-election was a report from Albany that the G. O. P.

administration will not ask for any new taxes in the (1950 State budget. In contrast with President Truman's call for additional imposts, the Governor indicated he intends balance the State budget without any new levies. Very seldom do office holders, who are planning to run again, propose new taxation in an election year. Meanwhile, election of Lehman and Mayor was seen as firmly the Democratic-labor more. liance.

Combined efforts of C. I. O. and A. F.

The Republicans took comfort in the fact that Lehman carried only the five counties in New York City and Democratic Albany County, while Dulles came out on top in the other 56 counties of the State. In Brooklyn, there was much speculation over possible repercussions in both the Democratic and Republican ranks as a result of the close race between Borough President Cashmore and Abe Stark, who came within 77,656 votes of capturing the Borough Hall post.

Despite the fact that Brooklyn is considered one of the strongest Democratic counties the nation, Stark made Cashmore, who is also the county Democratic leader, extend himself to retain his Board of Estimate seat. On the State scene possible Democratic candidates for Governor included Representative Franklin D. Roosevelt who stumped up-State areas for Lehman; Federal Security Administrator Oscar R.
