(jP) Stanfords football dynasty, Its Rose Bowl hopes and a great victory string came to ap end today on the rain-soaked field of Oregon State college. The score was 10 to.0 and the fighting Beavers won all the way.

This was the day the football world has been waiting for. The T-formation was stopped at last. It melted In a downpour. The razzle-dazzle that had carried the Indians through 12 wins, unbeaten last year in a Coast conference championship drive climaxed by a Rose Bowl victory, bogged down on a mushy field. The points that actually won the game were scored on a field goal seven minutes after the opening kick-off.

The Beavers had charged 58 yards to Stanfords S-yard line. An Areata, boy, Warren Simas, stepped into the lead role. Hes a sophomore and substitute quarterback. He came in, took aim and toed the ball through from 16 yards out. Oregon state made its victory more certain in the third period.

A substitute Stanford back, Bob Trojans Trounced Soundly By Oregon Men Los Angeles, Oct. 11. (JP) Oregon universitys greatest football eleven in many years wrecked the come-back dreams of the Trojans of Southern California today and scored the first triumph over the Cardinal and Gold since that dim, distant year of 1915. Led by a six foot southpaw kicking and passing sensation named Curtis Mecham, the Ore-gons registered a 20-6 victory over a Trojan machine which showed surprising spirit in bouncing back from a 33-0 whipping administered by Ohio State a week ago. Halfback Mecham fired three touchdown strikes to his teammates, one in the second period, the other two in a hectic third, and kept the ever-trying Trojans In hot water all afternoon' with a brilliant display of power and control punting.

Southern Californias star, quarterback Bobby Robertson, kept his mates in the game and ahead in the statistic department and threw a pass that went for Troys lone touchdown. It was a spectacular 70-yard play, with right end Bob Jones on the receiving end and sprinting the last 55 yards of the distance for the touchdown. FORDHAM PULLS OUT Chapel Hill, N. Oct. ll.

(AO Colorado Colleges Tigers saw their goal line crossed today for the first time this season, but they remained among the ranks of the undefeated, untied elevens and moved a step further along in defense of their Rocky Mountain conference football championship as they defeated Montana State college, 28-7. It was the third victory for the Tigers and their second in conference play this year.

It was the first defeat for Montana State, which had previously beaten Western State and tied with Colorado Mines. The Tigers struck pay dirt nine minutes after the opening kickoff and added another touchdown in the second period and two more in the last. They might have kept their goal line unblemished had they had a back fast enough to catch Shirl Williamson, 162-pound sophomore from Bozeman, who sliced through-the G.C. line on his own 19-yard stripe and raced 81 yards to a third period touchdown while the Tiger secondary pounded futilely at his heels. The first Tiger score climaxed a 60-yard march In which Schuler and Singen alternated at rolling up yardage, varying the routine with a 19-yard pass, Schuler to Peterson, which placed the ball on the Bobcat five-yard stripe.

Schuler punched over three plays later and then kicked his own conversion. The second period touchdown was manufactured with lightning suddenness! Smart running by Tiny Ken Nuckolls and a long pass, Anderson to Nuckolls, took the Bobcats across midfield but another toss backfield on a leaping interception by Pelican, who snatched the pigskin o.n his own 26 and returned to Montanas 38. Big Bill Singen dropped back and hurled a pass to Schuler, who was spilled by Anderson on the one-foot line, but Schuler hammered across on the next play and again converted. After Williamsons brilliant run in the third, the Tigers went to work and drove into Bobcat territory on a spectacular 46-yard dash by Schuler who was down on Montanas 16-yard line. Schuler was knocked out and removed from action for the rest of the day.

C.C. lost the ball on downs on the Bobcat 11-yard line. Another pass Interception by Pelican set the Tigers up again, but after a 15-yard penalty set them back from the four-yard linto the 19, A1 Richie tried a field goal which went wide. Four plays later three C.C. linemen blocked.

Nova the Yoga knocked all thought of retiring out of the head of Joe Louis. The beak busting business would be pretty sad without the champion. Im not going to quit fighting while the picking is so easy, anyway, drawls Louis.

So Louis opened bis exhibition tour of army camps in the Sixth Corps Area, comprising Illinois and Michigan, at FornSherldan, near Chicago, Oct. 8, as full of fight as he was when he spilled his first professional opponent, Jack Kracken, in a round, July 4, 1934, Louis went into training for the Nova debacle reluctantly, and there was considerable talk of it being the kids last fight. But it will take more than Nova and his dynamic stance to make him change his mind again. Louis certainly has had it easy from Primo Camera to Nova, the latter the softest of all. liOUIS EXPECTS TO ENTER ARMY Classed 1A in the draft, Louis expects to enter the army shortly; and is quite keen about it.

He will have no difficulty obtaining furloughs for fistic forays, especially in view of the fact that hed like to make one start for United Service Organizations. Should army regulations preclude his going to the ring wars, he will be 28 next May 13 and eligible to apply for an honorable discharge. Meanwhile, Billy Conn, who was winding the title until clipped in the k3th round in June, has been placed in cold storage until next, June. A second edition with Conn is the only big money shot in sight. Mike Jacobs no doubt will reorganize the Bum-of-the-Month club for Louis after the first of the year.

After looking at Nova, it wasn't half bad. Indeed, its members immediately elected Nova to good standing. WHAT WAS NOVA WAITING FOR? Looking back on the Nova affair, the challenger was a terrific disappointment. He looked-hke a novice missed by feet; Novas plan of battle was to jab. Swatter Louis a couple of times in the opening heat and then put everything he had in a right hand shot.

In this way, his handlers hoped to reduce the steam of Louispunches to the capacity of their man. Outside of a flurry that closed the fourth round and the finish, the fight was so bad that the principals heard the boo birds.

Had they not been fighting for the heavyweight championship, they easily could have been tossed out. Louis cant be criticized too severely for that. He was defending the crown. It was up to Nova to come and get it if he could. NOVA IS THROWN OFF COSMIC BEAM Jack Blackburns handling.
