The many friends Dr. Charles Farquhar, of Beutleysville, will be sorry to learn of his death which took place Sunday, of the malignant disease, typhoid fever, which is now an epidemic in that vicinity. For two weeks Dr. Farquhar has been ill. but up until Saturday the constant watchers have had hope, but Sunday morning the crisis came and his spirit fled.

Dr. Farquhar's wife, (Vilhelmina, is in a critical condition with the same dread disease, and it is feared the shock of her husband's death will proye fatal to her. Dr. Farquhar was a man in the prime of life and just commencing a practice in which he showed remarkably good judgment and learning. He leaves a wife and two children, aged two and four years.

Fourteen cases of fever may be counted in the vicinity of Bentleysrille and three deaths have resulted from it, thus proving the bad sanitary condition of the neighborhood. The state board of health has been not i lied as to the sanitary condition of the borough, and it is hoped that body will take some measures to stamp out the epidemic. Mrs. Harvey Dead. Mrs.

Rebecca, relict of the late Capt. Caleb Harvey, died at her residence on Fourth street, this city. Saturday afternoon, in her 84th year. The funeral took place this afternoon, at '2 o'clock, interment in Monongahela cemetery. Mrs.

Harvey's maiden name was Mac Neil, and her childhood days were spent on the Eastern shore of Maryland, where her parents resided. Five daughters survive her, Sarah now in Tennessee; Mary wife of James B. An-gell, of Allegheny City; Anna wife of Alonzo Inskeep, of McKeesport. and Isabelle and Lida. at home.

Mrs. Harvey was a faithful and consistent member of the Presbyterian church for over 70 years, and strong in this faith, passed "peacefully to rest W. ALIXAHDIK. JAB. 8.

Fields Minstrels will be in our opera house to-night, which will be their last appearance in this city for the next two seasons. The program rendered to-night will be entirely new. The principal specialists of this" company have never appeared in Monongahela City before. Estus, the daring Equilibrist, Leonzo, the Egyptian Wonder Worker, Billy Van, the Monologue Artist, Hassel. the wonderful tenor singer, Fleming, Harvey, Casey, the Mendelssohn Quartette will all make their first bow to a Monongahela audience this evening.

This is the greatest company Mr. Fields ever put on the road. Gilmore Thomas, better known as "Frog" was arrested at Washington on Sunday, by Cheif of-Police McCleary on a charge of murder, and brought to this city. He was placed in the lock-up and to-morrow morning will have a hearing before Alderman Radclifl'e. Thomas is charged with the murder of Wilson Howard at Courtney Sept, 22nd.

and proceeded to Washington, over the B. O. Al Field's minstrels arrived this morning by the East Shore road, from McKeesport. It is an excellent company, and will give a lirst class entertainment at the Opera House this evening. They have a bang-up brass band, which treated our citizens to an excellent concert at noon.

The members of the company made an elegant appearance, and Al. says "they are the people." The Teachers 'Toot. County Superintendent Spindlcr is getting up a great program for Teachers' institute of this fall. It will i be held about Thanksgiving, and is in-1 tended to eclipse all previous brilliant efforts in this lime. Funeral Notice.
