WCBS Warlt Naaa. that problem In the hands of all of his top technicians. It was not unlike a meeting of the Joint Chiefs of Staff In the Pentagon. As is always the case, a lot of time was spent in analyzing -the available material for this type of show. The problem was difficult, as all Disney characters are well known, but the age range for this Christmas show was to run from 7 to "0.

Bill Walsh, long associated with IMsnejr and responsible for many of his mot sqcoessful venture, was named to produce the show. Reader mail was used as the yardstick to measure what material would be most desirable. The first selection was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs." Incidentally, this entire feature will soon be re-released all over the country. The second choice was the next most popular Disney picture, the beloved Vnole Remus, who made uch a hit in "Song of the South." There waa no question about which sequence In this picture bad pleased all ages most. It was the Tar Baby number.

After this had been decided, Disney told Bill Walsh to go all out. Mickey Mouse will be seen once again by reason of numberless requests In "The Band Concert," In which rascally Donald Duck made his motion picture debut. from "Bambi" and many other surprises will all be found In this hour-long production. The manner in whicb all the various sequences and parts are integrated Into a knit show is merely another example of the magic that Walt Disney usually works. Try not to miss this one, It will make you feel good all over.

Two years ago NBC commissioned brilliant Gian Carlo Menotti to write the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors It will be given its world premiere performance on NBC-TV from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. on Christmas Evp. The opera tells the story of the Three Men rm their way to adore the Christ Child and their meeting with a 10-year-old crippled boy and his mother. The opera unfolds the story of the boy's miraculous cure. This is the first opera commissioned especially for television and, in addition to writing both the libretto and the score, Menotti will also stage the entire production.

Besides possessing wonderful music and an interesting story, "Amahl and the Night Visitors" is an Important milestone In TV history. Don't miss It. 10 "WNEW'a Pal Caa- new unit were organized. Other well-known favorites include Arthur Treacher a Christ as Present, Melville Cooper as Christmas Past, Norman as Bob Cratchitt and Margaret Phillips as Mrs. Cratchitt. The role of narrator Charles Dickens will be taken by Alan Napier. Mr. Napier's wife, whose professional name is Gypsy Raine, will play Mrs.

Frzziwig. In real life Mrs. Xapier is the great-granddaughter of the author, Charles Dickens. This afternoon from 2 to 3 o'clock WOR-TV will present "The Joyful Hour," a special Christmas film which includes such stars as Ruth Hussey, Pat O'Brien and Lloyd Corriftan, to name a few. This picture was produced hy the Family Rosary Association under the direction of Father Patrick Peyton.

CS C. Parents of members of the armed forces will be interested in a special Christmas presentation of WABD's "Pen-, tagon-Washington" program tomorrow from 8 to 8:30 p.m. A round-the-world film visit with the armed forces as they make plans for Christmas observances will be one of the many features of this telecast. A half-hour Christmas drama, "The Christmas Parable," starring Henry Jones, replaces the usual brief dramatic sketch and discussion period this afternoon on the CBS-TV program, "Lamp Unto My Feet," at 4 o'clock. This story deals with the spiritual meaning of Christmas and will be told in an unusually dramatic manner.

Tune In Charles Laughton's presentation of Yuletide readings on NBC-TV tomorrow from 11 to midnight. As far as I know, this has never been done before on TV. .1 am fully aware that I have only touched upon a few of the wonderful programs that TV is offering this Christmas season, To select others, consult, the program listings in this newspaper.
