Employes To Vote Today On Union Plan National Officials Address Mass Meeting of American Federation Of Labor Branch More than 400 employes of the Lackawanna Railroad Shops affiliated with the American Federation of Labor at meeting at Regal Hall last night prepared for the poll to be taken today on the choice of unions. Speakers expressed the opinion that the majority of the workers would vote in favor of the A. F. of L.

and defeat the company union plan of representation. J. W. Walsh and John Moffett, of the U. S.

Mediation Board, will be in charge of the poll. Balloting will start at 7 o'clock this morning. The vote will be taken at the shops. The mediators will poll the Kingston and Binghamton shops tomorrow. The tabulation will start either tomorrow night or Sunday and the result probably announced on Sunday or Monday.

The speakers last night were: John F. Radigan, Flushing, L. A. F. of L.

representative assigned to the poll; Joseph Ringler, Hornell, N. chairman of the Blacksmiths' Union, Erie Railroad; William Weismer, Buffalo, N. president of the Machinists' Union, Erie Railroad, and Thomas Lenehan, Wilkes-Barre, organizer for the Railway Carmen. At Hotel Casey, last night, J. R.

Abbot, Chicago, met with members of Railway Clerks and Station Employes' Union. Mr. Abbot denounced the company union system. Taylor Taylor News for The Republican left with Evan Evans. 109 West Taylor street, or phoned to Taylor 129-R will receive immediate attention.

CLASS REUNION TOMORROW TAYLOR, Sept. plans were made at the meeting of Class 1931, Taylor High School, last evening for the reunion outing on Saturday evening at Daleville Airport Casino. Edward Von Bergen is chairman of the reservation committee and announces that all members are requested to meet at the Calvary Baptist Church, Pond and Church Streets, at 8 o'clock. Ware Conducts Wrightnour Service The faneral of George Wrightnour, 1533 Madison Avenue, Dunmore, Was held yesterday afternoon with services in the home in charge of the Rev.

J. Lawrence Ware, rector of the Church of the Good Shepherd. Flower bearers were: John H. Williams, Robert J. Post, W.

M. Corbin, Dr. P. F. Kerstetter, Anthony Schultheis and R.

D. Richardson. Casket bearers were: David J. Jones, Max F. Henkelinan, Fred W.

Fire in Street Central city companies in charge of Assistant Superintendent John Gritfiths were called out at 10:30 o'clock last night when a quantity of clothing was ignited in the roadway in the 200 block of Vine Street. Clothing Is Stolen Two waltresses and a bartender at the Buddy Club Beer Garden, 227 Penn Avenue, told the police last night that several dresses and a man's coat were stolen from a cloak room in the establishment. Plans Completed For Tauras Outing Annual Conducted Affair Will Be Sunday Arrangements were completed last night for the annual outing and clambake of the Tauras Club. to be held all day Sunday at the Old Homestead, ANTHONY YANOSHAT located along the Lackawanna Trail Daleville. Peter Pestinikas, general chairman of the committee, pects the affair to be one of the most enjoyable in the history of the popular Lithuanian organization.

Anthony Yanoshat, president of the club, and Jonas Stepanauckas, past president, also are taking an active interest in the affair. Several features are on the program, including trapshooting, dancing, races and softball games. Assisting Mr. Pestinikas on the committee are: Anthony Shalna, Anthony Kelly, Anthony Galenas, Anthony Kubilus, Barney Mikulis, John Belsh and Anthony Pangonas. The latter, a director of the Scranton Baseball Club of the NYP League, will be in charge of all athletic events.

Lettieri, president of the newly organized Italian-American Republican Federation, has issued a call for a special meeting to be conducted Monday night at 8 o'clock in DeAn? drea's Hall. The purpose of the Federation is to unite all the Italians of the borough into 8 solid organization to work in harmony for the general welfare. Mr.

Plans Made to Attend Holy Name Convention Plans were made last night by members of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary's Church, Dunmore, to take part in the Holy Name convention and celebration to be held on Sunday at Marywood College.

It was announced at the meeting that the diocesan leaders have allotted 1,500 badges for the Dunmore society. Prof. John McAndrew presided at the meeting. The following were named to sell badges at the various masses at St. Mary's Church on Sunday: 6 o'clock, Harry Connolly and Prof.

Albert Bradican. 7 o'clock, Patrick Crane and Peter Joyce; 8 o'clock, Tom Hastings and Thomas O'Malley; 9 o'clock, Thomas Flaherty and John Flynn; 10:30 o'clock, Arthur Engel and Patrick McCarthy; 11:30 o'clock, William Quinn and William Greavy, Prof. Joseph McHale was named chairman of the soclety's badge committee. Badges are to be sold to men, women and children in St. Mary's Church.

Firemen Answer Two Alarms in Dunmore Two slight fires broke out in Dunmore yesterday. At 8:10 o'clock the water front in the kitchen stove exploded in the home of Leonard Williams, 117 East Grove Street, and the 'Neptune Company was called to the scene. Mr. and Mrs. Williams were at home when the blast took place but escaped uninjured.

There WAS slight 7 blaze o'clock after the the Neptune, explosion. Independent and Electric Companies were called out to an alarm turned in from Box 16, Monroe Avenue and Grove Street, Dundell, where bus was on Are. A short circuit 1s blamed for the blaze. There WAS slight damage with no passengers being injured. CLUB MEETS TONIGHT The regular monthly meeting of the Dante Club will be held in D'Andrea's Hall, this evening at 8 o'clock.

All members are urged to attend. The newly elected officers of the club will be installed at this meeting. They are: president, Prof, Hector DeFazio; vicepresident, Leonard Lavallo; secretary, Prof, James Morell; financial secretary, Prof. Vincent (James) Gatto; treasurer, Tommy Bevelock; sergeant-atarms, Art Gallo; trustees, Samuel Mastraina, Andrew Mecca and James Sacco. IN PARADE Scranton Council No. 33, Order of Independent Americans' Degree Team, which won first prize at the State Convention held in Hazleton on Labor Day, was well represented by Dunmoreans. Republicans, claimed a three-to-one edge in Philadelphia on the basis of scattered figures from the city's 1,283 precincts. John B. Kelly, chairman of the Democratic City Committee, charged "the Republican Organization) of Philadelphia is trying to buy the election" and threatened to take alleged violators "'Into Federal Courts." 350 War Veterans Poisoned by Food Victims Stricken at National Military Home LOS ANGELES, Sept. 6- hundred and fifty war veterans residing at the National Military Home tonight were stricken with ptomaine poisoning and were under care of physicians. Fifty of the' men were reported suffering from severe cases of poisoning.

Col. James S. Mattison, chief medical officer at the home, called to duty every available orderly, nurse and physician to aid those already on duty in caring for the 111 veterans. Drum Corps to Compete At State Police Rodeo One of the local features of the rodeo program to be staged at Brooks Field, Providence Road, next Tuesday afternoon by the Pennsylvania State Police will be competitive drill between the drum corps of the Peckville and Blakely American Legion Posts. Judges of the drill will be Major T.

Linus Hoban, Commander Bernard O'Har aand Prof. William Chase. Frank Valella is commander of the Peckville Post and Kenneth Jones is ward Davis are commander and drum drum major. James Crooms and Edmajor respectively of the Blakely Post. In the exhibition of trained horses, which will be one of the highlights of the program, Private Frank M.

Supata, Wyoming Barracks, will take the place of First Sergeant James Seerey, who was seriously injured while training his mount at Wyoming on Wednesday afternoon. Other events on the program Include mounted drill, motorcycle riding exhibition, mounted wrestling, exhibition of high jumping horses, exhibition by the trained police dogs, "Omar" and "Mark," horses jumping over automobiles with riders, flag drill mounted, exhibition of rough riding and jumping through hoops of fire by members of Troop B. Woman Slightly Hurt As Automobile Upsets by Rysak, 219 Popular An owned and driven Street, Dickson City, turned over about 1 o'clock yesterday morning in the 1700 block of Adams Avenue, more. Miss Mary Hallock, 640 Jefferson Avenue, Dunmore, WAS among those riding in the car and suffered slight injuries. She was attended by Dr. Carl Hosier and then removed to her home. Captain of Police Morlino investigated the accident and directed the motorist to appear for a hearing later in the day.

The hearing was ducted by Justice of the Peace Longo, who required Rysak to furnish bail in $500. Police have not learned what caused the auto to upset. VOTERS MAY ENROLL All Dunmore voters whose addresses have been changed since the last election and who were not enrolled this week by the various assessors can still have their registration corrected at the County Commissioners' office in Scranton. DUNMORE BRIEFS A special meeting of all legionnaires of the borough will be held tonight in the legion rooms at 8 o'clock to discuss several important matters. Chesley Lumbert, Scituate, is visiting friends in town.

Reports of vice-presidents were read and plans were tentatively outlined for Fall and Winter activities. It was announced that the annual retreat of the league will be conducted on Saturday, Sept. 22, at a place out of the city. The exact location as well as the program will be planned within the next few days. Preliminary arrangements were also made for the staging of a dramatic presenta-291.

tion in November. The group will conduct wiener roast the early part of next month, it was announced. Aid Resumes Meetings Members of the Ladies' Aid Society of Asbury M. Church yesterday afternoon resumed their Fall meetings with a covered dish luncheon in Nay Aug Park. Mrs.

Victor D. Thayer, president of the unit, presided over a business session which followed. Tentative arrangements were outlined for coming events. The next meeting of the society will be conducted on Thursday, Oct. 4, in the church.

SUFFERS BITE FROM DOG Chyleen Fabel, 7, 1554 Capouse Avenue, was treated by Dr. R. W. Williams, 812 Green Ridge Street, last night after she had been bitten by dog while playing at her home. The matter was reported to North Scranton police and Patrolman Michael Murphy investigated and informed the owner of the animal, William Tyler, 1528 Capouse Avenue keep the canine locked up for twenty-one days.

MATTHEWES RETURNS HOME Abel S. Matthews, Grandview Street, has returned from Evanston, where he attended the national convention of Methodist Youth, which was held in First M. E. Church, that city. Mr.

Matthews, resident of Lackawanna County Inter-Church Sunday School Association, was an official delegate of the Scranton District, Epworth League.
