Birdsall ONIDA Alex H. Birdsall, 11, Onida, died Wednesday. July 4, 2001, at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Survivors include his parents, Elwyn and Maradee Birdsall, Onida; one sister, Danielle Birdsall, Onida; maternal grandparents Floyd and Margaret Eliason, Mitchell; and paternal grandmother Nada Birdsall, Onida. Visitation will be from 5 p.m.

to 7 p.m. today at IsburgHofmeister Funeral Chapel in Pierre, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Onida School gymnasium. Donald C.

Chambers PHOENIX Donald C. Chambers, 74, of Phoenix, and Rapid City, died Saturday, June 30, 2001, in Phoenix after a short illness. He was born on October 18, 1926, in Augusta, Illinois, to Clarence and Olive (Williams) Chambers. He attended schools in Augusta and graduated in 1944. He joined the Navy after graduation and served in WWII, and from that experience, his love of ship travel grew.

Because of his love of travel and his dislike of time clocks, he became a professional truck driver. He was in the transportation industry most of his life. Mr. Chambers was a 52-year member of the Masons. Don is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty J.

of Rapid City and Phoenix; a son, Michael, of Rapid City; sons and daughters-in-law, David and Becky of Rapid City, Jeffrey and Jan of Rapid City, and Scott and Debi of Phoenix; daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Larry Richbourg of Phoenix and Gayle and David Fergie of Phoenix; and his sister, Bessie, of Quincy, Illinois. He is also survived by six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother, and a granddaughter, Jacquelyn (J.J.). Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 10, at South Canyon Lutheran Church in Rapid City, with Rev.

David L. Brinkman, age 54, of Hayward, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

David Lee was born January 1, 1947, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Rolland and Lois (Clements) Brinkman. Dave moved from Indiana with his family and grew up on Clements Resort, which was owned and operated by his parents, on the Chippewa Flowage. He attended school in the Hayward area and received a bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. After college, Dave moved to Rapid City, S.D., where he was in the insurance business and gaming. Dave's love of the North Woods, hunting and fishing, brought him back to the Hayward area.

Dave touched the lives of many people and built a network of friends everywhere he had been, including being an inspiration for his family and their friends young and old. Dave is survived by two sons, Shawn, Rapid City, S.D., and Todd, Brookings, S.D.: one sister, Mary (Robert) Rann, Marmora, N.J.: two brothers, Dennis (Debbie), Crystal Lake, and Alan, Milwaukee, and special friend and soulmate Peggy Outka, Hayward, Wis. Dave was predeceased by both of his parents. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. today, Friday, July 6, at St.

Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward, with Father Bill Green officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Interment will be private.

Memorials in Dave's name may be directed to the wildlife organization of the donor's choice. The Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home, (715) 634-2609, is assisting the family with arrangements. Alice Mary Huston CUSTER Alice M. Huston, 85, of Custer, S.D., died July 5 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Custer. Services will be held on Monday, July 9, at 2 p.m.

at the Custer Community Church in Custer. Burial will follow at the Custer City Cemetery. Alice was born March 13, 1916, to Emil and Lulu Schiesser on their homestead in Stanley County, S.D. She graduated from Pierre High School, attended business school in Mitchell and worked in Spearfish and Rapid City. She married E.R.

"Ray" Huston on November 19. 1938. They moved to Custer in 1947 to operate the Amoco bulk-fuel agency. She was a member of Custer Chapter 42 Order of Eastern Star, Paha Sapa Extension Club, Gold Dusters Square Dance Club and Custer PTA. She was an avid bridge player until her recent illness.

She also served as a hostess in the bookstore of the Custer County 1881 Court House Museum. Survivors include two sons, Ronald and his wife, Dianne Huston, of Morton, and Duane and his wife, Linda Huston, of Tucson, one daughter, Lorna Kelter of Tulsa, one brother, Theodore Schiesser of Hayes, S.D.: and one sister, Pauline Meister of Rapid City, S.D. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.R. "Ray" Huston; and one brother, Hollis Schiesser. Arrangements have been placed in the care of RooksIsburg Funeral Chapel, Hot Springs.

Robert V. Troyer BELLE FOURCHE Robert V. Troyer, 47, Belle Fourche, died Feb. 17, 2001, at his home. Survivors include his wife, Laura Troyer, Belle Fourche; one son, Zach Troyer, Belle Fourche; four brothers; and three sisters.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 8, at Kline-Frost Funeral Chapel in Belle Fourche, with the Rev. Steve Olson officiating. Barbara Dupay Arrangements are pending. Behrens ERAL HOME Mary Hennigan GENEVA.

Ill. Mary Hennigan, 98, Geneva, Illinois, resident and former longtime Rapid City resident, died at the Geneva Care Center, Geneva, Sunday, July 1, 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Joan Zine and her husband Charles, Elgin, a son, William, and his wife Mary Ann, Washington, Iowa; 16 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Hennigan, in December 1999.

Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Mount Calvary Cemetery in Rapid City, with Rev. Michel Mulloy officiating. Friends may gather at the Osheim-Catron Funeral Home prior to services. Bryan E.

Hockett LODI, Calif. Bryan E. Hockett, 57, of Lodi, died Monday, June 18, at UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, Calif. Mr. Hockett was born in Belle Fourche, S.D.

He lived in the Silicon Valley Bay Area for 30 years and spent his last six years in Lodi. Mr. Hockett was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He graduated from Montana State University and received a Master's Degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

He served as an advisor to the U.S. Army for the maintenance of a classified advanced airborne receiving system. He retired at age 47 from ARGOSystems, Sunnyvale, an engineering firm he helped establish in the early 1970s. Survivors include a daughter and son, Dawn and Dana Hockett, both of Morgan Hill, a half brother, Ken Leitner of Pueblo, an uncle, Ernest Leitner of Crook County, and cousins Cheryl Ice, Beulah, Don Hockett, Gillette, and V. Sam Armstrong, Spearfish, S.D.

A graveside memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 11, at 11 a.m. at Pine Slope Cemetery in Belle Fourche, S.D. Marvin Sheesley Marvin Sheesley RAPID CITY Marvin Sheesley, 85, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at the Rapid City Regional Hospital after a short illness. Marvin was born June 1, 1916, at Tecamah, the son of Don and Mabel (Hart) Sheesley. Marvin Survivors Sheesley include a son, Jim Sheesley, Coos Bay, Oregon; two daughters, Nancy Sick.

Washington, and Carol Groves, Onawa, Iowa; a brother, Dale Sheesley, Rapid City: two sisters, Ruth Heisler and Marion Harder, both of Sioux City, Iowa; eight grandchildren; seven great -grandchildren: and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mamie, his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and a great-grandson. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

at First United Methodist Church in Mitchell Barbara Dupay RAPID CITY Barbara Dupay, 43, Rapid City, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Rapid City Regional Hospital. Survivors include a sister, Pauline McAllister, Minneapolis; her husband, Frank Sanderson, Rapid City; two daughters, Angelique Shurson and Francesca Sanderson, both of Rapid City; one son, Doug Shurson, Indiana; and three grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Behrens Mortuary of Rapid City. Gwen Marie Miles SPEARFISH Gwen Marie Miles, 74, Spearfish, died Wednesday, July 4, 2001, at Lookout Memorial Hospital in Spearfish. Survivors include her husband, Clarence Miles.

Spearfish; three daughters, Nancy George, Farmington, N.M., Mary Radford, Sturgis, and Julie Lewis, Spearfish: three sons, Bill Miles, Norfolk, Melvin Miles, Cincinnati, and David Miles, Ellicott, one sister, Gay Lynn, Spearfish; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Arrangements are pending with Fidler Funeral Chapel of Spearfish. the Bible. He recently returned from his second trip to Israel. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956, and the Army Reserves until 1968. Graduated from Boston University, and Boston University Law School in 1960. He practiced law in Massachusetts, and South Dakota for 32 years until 1992 when Governor George Mickelson appointed him as a Circuit Court Judge. This fulfilled his lifelong ambition.

In April 1998, Supreme Court Chief Justice Robert Miller appointed him presiding judge of the 7th Judicial Circuit which covers Pennington, Custer, Fall River and Shannon Counties in southwest South Dakota. John was an adjunct professor at Black Hills State University and the University of South Dakota, Ellsworth Branch for years where he taught criminal law and criminal procedure. In September 1999, he was elected president of the State Judges Association which included all of Supreme Court Justices, Circuit Court Judges and Magistrate Judges of South Dakota. John originally came to South Dakota in 1972 as a supervising attorney for the SBA following the Rapid City flood. He served as vice chairman of the State Board of Minerals and Environment, as a member of the Rapid City School Board, and Chairman of the Pennington County Public Defenders Advisory Board.

He was on the board of directors at the Cornerstone Rescue Mission and Teen Challenge at the time of his death. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Cornerstone Rescue Mission. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 6th, 2001, at 10 a.m. at the Bethel Assembly of God Church, Rapid City, South Dakota.
