Degener, who has served for the last five years as the manager of the Crystal theatre, will take over the managership of the new house, Although he has devoted the last 14 years to theatre work, he said today that he had never seen a theatre of more real comfort and beauty than the house which will be opened tomorrow. The popular manager has won countless friends in Salinas valley since he came here from Oakland, where he formerly was in the theatre business, and the city today warmly wished him congratulations on the advent of El Rey. An unusual program has been selected for presentation to the opening night audiences, with two shows Thursday night and a matinee Friday.

Mark Jorgensen, architect of the new El Rey will be receiving the plaudits of the day when patrons visit his latest architectural triumph. Renowned throughout California for his outstanding theatre creations. Jorgensen said today that the El Rey is unquestionably on a par with the finest theatres in the amusement industry. Built at great expense and dedicated to the people of Salinas, the new film palace will show all of-the late major motion pictures at popular prices. Luxurious comforts await the patrons, and a staff of trained employes will exert every effort to aid in the comfort and enjoyment of the patrons.

The new El Rey theatre, as previously pointed out, marks general advancement in technical progress of motion picture entertainment All seats of the cozy house; which accommodates 700 persons, have been so arranged as to afford proper visual distance from the screen. There Is no sight angle greater than Is required to retain the true proportion or distribution of the figures on the screen, a factor that is lacking in many costly houses of larger size in metropolitan areas.
