Tuesday, April 5, 2005 www.rapidcityjournal.com RAPID CITY JOURNAL Milton Erlin Foreman BELVIDERE Milton Erlin Foreman, age 76, of Belvidere, passed away on April 3, 2005, at the Hans P. Peterson Memorial Hospital in Philip, after a long-fought battle with can- cer. Milton Foreman was born August 31, 1928 on his grandparent's homestead northeast of Belvidere. He was the first of three children born to Porter and Tillie (Blom) Foreman. When he was a young boy the family lost their home in a fire.

His parents bought and moved to a farm four miles north of Belvidere. Milton attended grade school at Valley School, a small country school in Jackson County. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1946 and farmed with his father. He worked for the railroad a couple of summers and was later a heavy equipment operator with Jensen and Sanftner until he went into the service. In October 1951 Milton enlisted in the Army.

He spent 16 months in Germany and during this time, he received electrician schooling. Home on furlough, Milton was united in marriage to LaVonne Gerdon, daughter of Bob and Pearl, on April 15, 1952 at Rapid City. "He received an honorable discharge from the Army on September 19, 1953. Milton and Vonnie lived and ranched on the Thode Ranch south of Belvidere from 1954 until 1962, when at that time they moved four miles north of Belvidere and purchased the Foreman and raised wheat and cattle. In addition to ranching and farming, Milton was a truck driver for many years.

He hauled cattle for Harold Eckert from 1955 until the earMilton ly 1970s and later was a fuel transport driver for Foreman Burns Bros. Truck Stop in Kadoka for 10 years. His handle on the CB radio during his truck- driving years was "shotgun." Due to health reasons Milton and Vonnie moved to the Gateway Apartments in Kadoka October 28, 2004. Milton served on the FSA committee for 15 years, was a member of the Peterson-Stoddard American Legion Post 144 for 53 years where he served the post commander, the post adjutant and he was the district commander for two years. Milton was also a member of the Belvidere Presbyterian Church.

One of Milton's favorite hobbies was trap shooting, attending trap shoots across the state, and he brought home numerous trophies. Milton was also an avid bowler. It wasn't until his retirement years that he acquired a new hobby fishing. There wasn't a thing Milton would not tackle. He was a carpenter, plumber, electrician and a mechanic.

One of Milton's happiest days was his birthday August 31st, 2004; his great Carter Iversen, was born. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, La Vonne of Belvidere: two children Ronda Dennis and her husband Rick of Kadoka; Rod Foreman and his wife Kim of Hyannis, Nebraska; five grandchildren; Lori Iversen and her husband Aaron of Murdo: Bobbi Jo Eckert of Rapid City; two Marine grandsons Sgt. Ryan Foreman of Cairo, Egypt, Cpl. Brent Foreman of Kuwait and his wife Jessica of Lincoln, NE, and Mitchell Foreman of Hyannis: one great-grandson Carter Iversen; one sister, Connie Niedan and her husband Kenneth of Hershey, Nebraska and a host of other relatives and friends. Milton was preceded in death by one infant son Neil, his parents; and one brother Conrad.

Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, April 7, at the Belvidere Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, with Pastor Gary McCubbin officiating. A memorial has been established. Loescher SPEARFISH Barbara D. Loescher, 71, of Spearfish 1 has left town and is not expected to return. A gathering to honor and to celebrate Barb's life with her children and grandchildren is scheduled for Friday, April 8th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at her home 2725 Diamond Drive in Spearfish.

Memorials may be given to Grace Balloch Memorial Library in Spearfish. She is survived by her son Jeffery Loescher, St. Louis, MO, two daughters; Deborah (Kim) Thrasher, Parker, CO and Rebekah Loescher, Aurora, CO, a sister Candace (Richard) Spiher, NV, four grandchildren; Amanda Woolhiser, Brynne Nathan Thrasher, and Rylee Loescher. She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and a niece, Jennifer Spiher. The Carlsen Aldinger Funeral Home of Spearfish has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Dorothy Theresa Johnson BLACK HAWK Dorothy Theresa Johnson, 93, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005, in Black Hawk. Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Struessel, Colorado Springs, and Christine Spader, Black Hawk; three grandchildren; and one great Services were at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, at St. James Church in Denver. Burial was at Green Hill Cemetery in Laramie, Wyo.

He was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Bison, S.D. He married Orpha Bailey and to this union nine children were born. I He married again to Fannie Franklin. He served in the U.S.

Army during World War II. Survivors include his wife Fannie, Torrington; seven sons, Leslie, Lonnie, Loyd, Lee, Loel, Lorry, Lynn; two daughters, Kandie and Cindy; one sister, Helen Trautman; one brother, Veral Hansen; and several grandchildren and great -grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Hansen; his parents, Leonard Hansen Sr. and Elsie Hansen; and one great -grandchild. There will be no services.

Survivors include four daughters, Carla LeBeau of Hot Springs, Kathy LeBeau of Chugiak, Alaska, and Lori Stengl and Tisha Moran, both of Eagle Butte; three sons, Greg LeBeau and Michael Shane LeBeau, both of Eagle Butte, and Thomas Mills (Frenchy) LeBeau of Pacifica, three cousins, Martin (Ida) Red Bear of Rapid City, Calvin (Delores) Mills of Pine Ridge, and Grace Bradley of Hot Springs; 35 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and her extended Tiospaye family which includes numerous nieces and nephews and their children. A one-night wake will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Hot Springs, with Monsignor James Mortimer officiating. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Travis LeBeau, Troy LeBeau, Everett Lesmeister, Rocklyn LeBeau, Jason Vanderheide, Derek LeBeau, Dathan Little Wounded, and Paul Returns. Interment will follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Hot Springs.

A memorial dinner will be held in Eagly Butte at the H.V. Johnson Cultural Center on Sunday April 10 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. McColley's Chapel of the Hills in Hot Springs is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Scott was born on August 29, at Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Mitchell High School in and enlisted in the Army Air Corps Pilot Training Program. discharged in 1946 and attended Dakota Wesleyan University for two years. He graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1950.

He married Maxine Nordin on June 10, 1954 at Willmar, MN. They moved to Sioux Falls where he continued his employment with Great Lakes Pipe Line Co. He worked for Josten Concrete and Wilbert Vault Co. and as manager of Goodwill Industries of Sioux Falls, retiring in 1986. He was a charter member of Westminster Presbyterian Church serving as Deacon and Elder; Elks Lodge, American Legion Post 15 and National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his sons, Steven, Sioux Bob (Michelle), Hurley, SD; daughters, Nancy Scott, Sioux Cathleen Comp, Rapid City, SD; nine grandchildren; and nephews and nieces.
