a Mrs. Crtffia was a member of the Contra Costa County Nursing and Convalescent Hospital Association, the American Nursing and Convalescent Hospital, NAACP, the SouthskJe Democratic Club and the ML Zion Missionary Baptist Church of Oakland. Survivors include her husband, Ezekiel B. Griffin, of the family home In Richmond. Services will be held at the Mt.

Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 12th and Willow streets, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. W. A. Holly officiating.

Funeral arrangements are being bandied by the Jackson Funeral Home of Oakland. Joseph P. Rose FREMONT A Requiem Mass will be offered this morning for Joseph P. (Dan) Rose, a member of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department for 22 years, who died Thursday at the age of 88. Mr.

Rose was a member of Knights of Columbus, Council No. 2692 of Centerville, and the I.DD.S. Lodge, Council No. 27 of Centerville. A resident ot Fremont, he is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mamie Rose.

Other survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Gladyce French, and a son, Joseph. C. Rose, both of Fremont; sisters Miss Clara Rose and Mrs. Annie Abreu, both of Menlo Tark; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Stoddard, former dean of the School of Op-tometery of the University of California in Berkeley, who died Feb. 6. He was 65. Dr. Stoddard received his bachelors degree at UCLA and his PhD.

in physics at Stanford University. He taught at Stanford and joined the faculty at the Berkeley campus hi 1938. During World War Dr. Stoddard worked as a physicist at the Universitys Lawrence Radiation Laboratory. He served as dean of the optometry school from 1946 to 1961 and held the title of professor emeritus of physiological optics at the time of his death.

He was president of the Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry in 1951. Dr. Stoddard and his wife, Audrey, lived in Redondo Beach. Oakland, In San Leandro, Feb. 13.
