THE NEW LIFE THE ORGANIZATION PLAN OF THE AUTOMOBILE TRADE ASSOCIATION OF KANSAS A pessimist says It can't be done. An optimist says It can be done. A PEPTOMIST DOES IT! Legislation and Legal Committee; W. H. Imes, Chairman, Topeka. To have charge of the legislative work of the organization and to pass on all legal matters pertaining to our organization's activities. This committee has already rendered a valuable service to the trade the details of which cannot be explained in this brief space.

Cooperation Committee; L. F. Butler, Chairman, Topeka. To look after unnecessary and unfair competition, and to eliminate trade abuses. To keep all automobile men working together for the good of the industry as a whole.

Service Committee; Floris Nagelvoort, Chairman, Wichita. Look after service problems of the dealers. This committee hopes to eventually work out a service plan so that all dealers may be able to follow out the principles contained therein, and raise the standard of service of the automobile. Employment Committee. Employment Committee; J.

F. Ollinger, Chairman, Salina. To work out a plan which will assist the members in securing competent help, grading the mechanics, and keeping record of those not worthy of consideration. Constitution and By-Laws; Joseph Trindle, Chairman, Liberal. See that the constitution and by-laws are adequate to permit the association to function as it should.

General Garages; F. H. Lindsly, Chairman, Iola. To work out matters pertaining to garage men and endeavor to plan a system that will raise the standard of general garages. Insurance Committee; W.

H. Imes, Chairman, Topeka. To work out a plan whereby the dealers and all automobile trade men may save money on insurance premiums of all kinds, especially fire and theft. This committee is ready to report, we understand, and their report will be submitted to the board at its meeting the last week of this month. Extension Committee; A.

E. Kirk, Chairman, Hutchinson. This committee to have charge of sectional meetings, assist in forming local associations, and in securing new members throughout the state. Since the last meeting associations have been formed in Newton, Hutchinson and Manhattan, and plans are under way to organize others in Ottawa and Lawrence. This committee will be glad to assist any town in organizing its automobile men.

So you can see from the above that the State Association means business. It is bound to produce results, and every automobile man in Kansas should be a member. Further information will be gladly furnished by A. L. Oliger, Manager, Topeka, Kansas.

By A. L. It is with pleasure that the writer takes this opportunity of presenting to the automobile trade men of Kansas a brief outline of the Kansas Automobile Trade Association. All big things start small as a rule and fortunately the Automobile Trade Association of Kansas has passed through the preliminary stage and is now branching out into a practical and result-producing organization. One of the best meetings of the Automobile men of the state, ever held in Kansas, was held in Wichita on December 10, last year.

In the midst of a severe storm and right in the worst of our coal shortage close to two hundred automobile trade men gathered together to further the work of the State Association. At this meeting the following officers and board of directors were elected for 1920: Officers Will G. Price, president, Wich-ta; W. H. Trefry, vice-president, Topeka; C.

B. Hereford, treasurer, Hutchinson. Directors J. F. Ollinger, Salina; Frank Slasson, Plainville; C.

I. Cochran, Emporia; L. F. Butler, Topeka; A. E.

Kirk, Hutchinson; F. Nagelvoort, Wichita; F. H. Lindsly, Iola; Joseph Trindle, Liberal; W. H.

Imes (ex-officio), Topeka. Salina was selected as the convention city for 1920 and you may rest assured we will have "some" meeting in the "City of Opportunity" this fall. Get Road Reports. As a result of certain action taken at the convention relative to the U. S.

Weather Bureau issuing reports on the condition of roads in Kansas, the Topeka and Wichita offices have received instructions from the U. S. Department of Agriculture to follow out the plan suggested by the Automobile Trade Association and issue these reports. This one feature alone will be of considerable help to the automobile trade and will be of untold value to travelers and tourists, thereby encouraging the use of the automobile as a means of transportation. Shortly after the state convention the officers and board of directors met and arranged a program of work for 1920, as follows: Emblem Committee; C.
