'There's a good deal more background to "No, No, Nanette" than is revealed in The Playbill. As everyone knows, the original production was a hit in 1925-26, but cursory research discloses that the show was done in Chicago, Philadelphia and London before Broadway each of the previous presentations having been a different edition. It was a hit in all four cities, having a 329-performance run here and playing 321 performances in London.

No records are available in the litter-crammed corner where this is being written as 'to the cast of the London production. Further investigation discloses, however, that "No, Nanette" was not an original musical, but was based on a farce, "My Lady Friends," by Emil Nyitray and Mandel, adapted from a novel, presumably of the same title, by May Edgington. "My Lady Friends" was produced in 1919-1920 at the Comedy Thea--ter in West 41st between Broadway and Sixth Avenues (it was subsequently the Mercury Theater and was demolished in 1939). The play was produced by H.H.
