Compesi passed to Larry Ferret for the conversion. Whatever hopes Wood-Ridge may have entertained for victory were quickly dashed early in the third period when Fanuzzi, on the fourth play after the kickoff, took off on another 62-yard scoring romp. Blocks by D'Agostino and Jerauld made it easy as the score mounted to 28-8. The Aviators closed the scoring in the final period when they moved 61 yards in seven plays following Jeraulds second interception.

Manfredi capped the drive with a two-yard plunge. on a 62-yard sprint to paydirt. took the ensuing kickoff and moved to a quick first down but Marion DAgostino, who played a great game both ways for Heights, pounced on a Blue Devil fumble on the Heights 48. 1 Four plays later, Fanuzzi dropped back, spotted Barry Musto over the middle and rifled a pass to the speedy wing-back. Musto caught the pass in stride, side-stepped a defender and raced into the end zone to complete a 34-yard maneuver.

Wood -Ridge came right back to score its only TD as the first half came to a close. The Blue Devils marched 50 yards in nine plays as senioi fullback Craig Ferrara bullet its own. The Blue Devils marched 52 yards in nine plays to the Height six-yard stripe. However, the Aviator defense, which sparkled all morning, stiffened at this point, and threw John Cassa-massina, for a five-yard loss before comerback Dennis Jerauld picked off a Russ Campe-si pass on the goalline. With Wood-Ridge playing inspired football on defense, Hasbrouck Heights found it impossible to score again until midway through the second period.

Again, it was Fanuzzi who provided the spark as he rolled to his -right, broke a tackle behind the line of scrimmage, waited for his blocking to form and took off In addition, Fanuzzi com-ple ed five of seven passes for 67 yards and a score while also catching an aerial from teammate Rich Manfredi good for another 33 yards, i Devils High Many of the fans, )yho packed Wood-Ridge to overflowing, were somewhat dissappointed that the Aviators were unable to run bp a higher score against the young Blue Devils. However, Wood-Ridge attempted to keep the score down and coach George Webers Blue Devils suceeded by keeping the ball on the ground and playing tough, hard-nosed defense. Make no mistake about it," Wood-Ridge is going to be one heck of a football team in the next couple of years when its promismg sophomores begin to mature. However, yesterday it was all Hasbrouck Heights as the Aviators, in typical fashion, dominated the game from beginning to end. The first time the Aviators touched the ball they drove 92 yards in 10 plays to assume an 8-0 lead.

Fanuzzi accounted for 73 of those yards including the final 17 on a beautiful twisting sprint down the right sideline. Manfredi added the conversion on a run. FRIDAY AND Russ Compesi, Wood Rich Manfredi of Heights By ERIC MORTENSON Herald-News Staff Writer WOOD-RIDGE With senior quarterback Mike Fanuzzi pulling out all stops, Has-brouck Heights completed its 1969 football campaign undefeated yesterday by overpowering traditional rival Wood-Ridge, 36-8.

The fabulous Aviators, who must go down in the books as one of the best teams Bergen County has ever produced, closed their year with a perfect 9-0 mark while establishing a new Bergen County scoring record of 478 points. Fanuzzi, who was honored by the Bergen County YMCA on Monday evening as the countys outstanding schoolboy athlete, was the driving force behind the team all season. But never was brilliance more noticeable than yesterday when the lithe, clever signal-caller carried the ball 15 times for 248 yards and three touchdowns. It was a big day for the defense, too, as it bottled up Cresskill for a net loss on the day of 70 yards rushing and twice picked up safeties with end zone tackles. Plaia put the Falcons in front with a 3-yard run early in the game, the only scoring in a tight first quarter.

But Saddle Brook began to pick up steam and kept Cresskill tied in knots. The Falcons got their first safety here when Bob Wetzel was tackled in the end zone, and added six points when Pete Righi gathered in a pass from Manny Monserrate good for 21 yards and a TD. Plaia tallied for the second time in the third period on a two-yard run and a pass picked up a two-point conversion. Cresskill then followed with its only score, that coming on a 59-yard pass play with Wetzel on the receiving end. Plaia quickly got that back, however, as he went three yards and the third period ended with Saddle Brook leading 28-6.

The Falcons added three more scores plus their second safety in the final stanza. Gary Gardner got the first with a nine-yard interception return; Lyons was decked in the end zone for the safety; Plaia rambled 38 yards for a six-pointer; and Monserrate closed out the scoring with a one-yard run topped off by Bub Markowicks placement for the PAT.
