at the national convention in Atlantic City Fight Now Looms Over Adjournment Washington, Nov. 9 -A bitter partisan fight in Congress over adjournment appeared in prospect today. Democrats want to end the session that began last January by next Friday. Republicans charge that adjournment would permit the Administration to plunge the country into war without a Congressional check. Speaker Sam Rayburn believed that no legislative projects required consideration now.

He said that the Congress convening in January could do "all that is necessary." He was challenged by House Republican Leader Joseph W. Martin who announced he would seek to keep Congress in session until Christmas. Martin said that world conditions have not changed and that the same conditions which kept the two Houses in Washington until election required them to remain here.
