Then the Nazis came. Fleeing from France, Grushow came to this country, where he felt he would be safe-safe from vandals, safe to pursue his business without fear that some one would confiscate his goods. Six months ago he opened a store at 486 Sutter Ave The store, just as his business did in Paris, thrived. Then suddenly he got a visit, an unexpected visit. It wasn't the Nazis, of course, but yeggmen.

They came some time between 9 last night and 6:30 a.m. today. They bent back the iron bars on the rear window of the store, entered, jimmied the safe, and departed with furs valued at $5,500. The loot, consisting of 200 Persian lamb skins and two Persian lamb coats, was uninsured, Grushow told Liberty Ave. police.
