Arthur Haddock Valley Stream, May 26-Funeral services were conducted today for Mrs. Grace (Porter) Haddock, wife of Arthur Haddock, former park commissioner for this village, who died suddenly Monday in Meadowbrook Hospital, East Hempstead, where she had been taken for treatment the previous day. Mrs. Haddock was born In Somerville, and came to Valley Stream 14 years ago with her husband and family. She was active in Trinity Episcopal Chapel, serving as a member of the Guild and Trinity Circle.

She leaves her husband. a son, John; and three daughters, Mrs. Marion White and the Misses Violet and Leila Haddock, all of 106 Monroe oBulevard, the family residence. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. George B.

Cox, vicar of Trinity chapel, in the chapel and burial was in Tirinity churchyard, Hewlett. Arthur Bornholdt Funeral services will be held tonight for Arthur J. F. Bornholdt, tobacco importer, of 140 8th who died of heart disease Monday after an illness of eight months. Mr.

Berton Maxfield, Attorney, Dead Author of Several Books on Lore of PhilippinesProminent in Boro Clubs Berton Lewis Maxfield, lawyer, clubman, author and treasurer of the Payne Fund, for the past ten years, died yesterday at his home, 3088 Bedford after a long illness. He had his offices in the Woolworth Building for the past 27 years. Mr. Maxfield was born in Gorham, N.

the son of Henry Maxfield and the former Miss Kate L. Carr, both of old New England families. attended Tilton Seminary at Tilton, N. and was graduated from Brown University in the class of 1901. He had a Ph.D.

degree. He was then employed by the Federal Government as an instructor in the Philippine Islands for three years. He then came back to the United States and studied law. He was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1907. Mr.

Maxfield 'was prominent in many Brooklyn clubs and a member of the Municipal Club, a the Saturday Evening Club of Flatbush and was a director of the New England Society for the past eight years. He was the attorney of Prospect Heights Hospital for past ten years and secretary of the Blind Players of Brooklyn. Mr. Maxfield was also a member of the New York County Lawyers Association, the Quill Club of New York and the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity, Rho Chapter of Brown University. Mr.

Maxfield was the author of several law books. He also wrote several books on Philippine folk lore. Mr. Maxfield was the father of the late Barton L. Maxfield who attended Brown University and died in March, 1927.

A memorial window to young Maxfield was unvelled at the Ocean Avenue Congregational Church in 1927 by the Pilgrim League, of which he was the president. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Winifred H. Maxfield, prominent clubwoman, and the first of her sex head the Phi Beta Kappa, and two brothers, Dr. Gorge Maxfield of Massachusetts and Lester Maxfield of New Hampshire.

The Rev. Oscar Maddaus, pastor of the Dutch Reformed Church of Manhattan, will officiate at the services which will be conducted at the home Friday at 8 p.m, Obituaries MRS. ROSE SULLIVAN, 62, of 426 Flushing died Sunday of arteriosclerosis at Cumberland Hospital. Surviving is A son, Alfred. Funeral services will be held tomorrow.

FREDERICK BOEPPLER, 67, died of a heart attack yesterday at his home, 509 McDonough St. Born in Manhattan, he lived in Brooklyn more than 30 years. Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Young and Mrs. Josephine Schneider, and two sons, Conrad and Fred Boeppler.

The funeral will be held tomorrow. MRS. MARY AGNES DALY. 66, a native of Brooklyn, died yesterday at her home, 37-22 64th Woodside. She had lived in Woodside more than 10 years, Surviving are her husband.

The funeral will be held Friday, WILLIAM LAWRENCE CLARE, a mounted patrolman, of 41-61 Marathon Parkway, Little Neck, died suddenly on Monday. He is survived by his widow, Sarah Kearney Clare, and A brother. Martin Clare. He was a veteran of the World War and was member of the New York Police Post, 460, American Legion. Brands Grave Social Blunder Justice Herbert O'Brien Praises Stand of Geoghan and Mrs. McGoldrick in Morals Drive- -Says It Is Time Parents Called a Spade a Spade Co-education is a "grave educational and social blunder," Justice Herbert A. Burr Company, contractors, which dissolved because of his ill health, was born on Connecticut but lived in Brooklyn for more than 75 years. He was later affillated wit the Robins Drydock and Repair Company and retired 12 -rs ago. He was descended from Benjamin Burr who settled at the site of Hartford, in 1632.
