Renting Agent ROOM 602 Mrs. Lizzie Gray, Church Worker Life Resident of Borough Was One of Founders of Chiropean Society Mrs. Lizzie Gray, one of the founders of Chiropean and long active in the affairs of Central Congregational Church, died yesterday afternoon at her home, 1439 Union after a short illness. She was 82. Mrs.

Gray was born in the Eastern District, daughter of the late William Green, prominent real estate pioneer in that section, and for many years was active in the social life of that community. She also was one of the original memChaminade, of which her daughter, Mrs. Amelia -Clarke, is conductor. was the widow of Robert Morrison Gray, Custom House broker and prominent churchman, who died in 1923. Surviving Mrs.

Gray are two daughters, Mrs. Gray-Clarke and Mrs. Cord A. Meyer; four grandchildren, Frank Gray Mrs. Arthur Loring Douglas Mrs.

Nelson Wilbur Doyle and Miss Florence Morrison Meyer, and a great-grandson, Bruce Mount Doyle. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Central Congregational Church, Hancock St. near Franklin with the associate pastor, the Rev. Olin A.

Brown, Advertising Man Special to The Eagle Rutherford, N. Jan. 19-Funeral services for Robert S. Brown. vice president and treasurer of the Basford Company, New York advertising agents, will be held here tomorrow at 2:30 p.m.

He was 51. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Louise Macher Brown; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Brown Blackler and' Miss Emilie Brown, and a sister, Mrs. Annie Dobson.

A native of England, he was graduated as a mechanical engineer from Pratt Institute in 1909 was employed in the engineering rind office of the Erie Railroad for the next six years. He went to the Basford Company in 1916, specializing in merchandising problems of the railway supply industry. During his association with the advertising agents he did work for the American Arch Company, Lima Locomotive Works, Franklin Railway Supply Company, Superheater Company and Standard Stoker Company. He was a member of the Engineers, Transportation and New York Railway clubs of New York. Services Tonight For Amalie Ruger Funeral services will be held tonight at 8 for Miss Amalie Ruger, 68.

prominent, Julius artist and Ruger, daughter well-known of portrait painter. Miss Ruger died Monday at St. John's Hospital after a brief illness. A lifelong resident of Brooklyn, Miss Ruger and her family had lived at 35 Troy Ave. for the last 61 years.

She studied at Cooper Union and the Academy of Design and was a member of the Brooklyn Art Guild and of the Ladies Aid of Russell Camp Auxiliary of the 13th Regiment Veterans Association. Surviving are three brothers, odore, George Otto and Alexander Ruger. The services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles William Roeder at the Fairchild Chapel, 86 Lefferts Place. John J.

He was formerly for 40 years a foreman with the Horton Ice Cream Company, retiring two years ago. He was the husband of the late Julia Rock Cluskey. The funeral will be held from the chapel at 40 Lafayette Ave. at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow; thence to St.

Francis Xavier R. C. Church. where a solemn requiem mass will be offered. Interment will be in St.

Fulton Long Beach, former supervisor and treasurer of the City of Long Beach, died last night from a stomach ailment in the New York Hospital, Manhattan. Mr. Hogan was born in Brooklyn in 1888 and was educated at St. Leonard Academy there. He was employed the City of New York in the Finance Department for about 17 years.

He then moved to Long Beach, where he became an assistant to Mayor William J. Dalton. A year later he was elected as supervisor to represent the City of Long Beach and four years later he became the City Treasurer under Mayor Frank Franco. Mr. Hogan was a member of the Long Beach Chapter of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Holy Name Society, Volunteer Firemen of Long Beach and a member of the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association.

He is survived by his widow, Charlotte: a son, Thomas; two daughters, Marie and Margaret; a brother, John, and his father, Thomas Sr. Funeral services will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the St. Ignatius Martyr R. C.

Church, Long Beach. Rites Tomorrow For Louis Erichs A solemn requiem mass will be offered tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of R. C. Church Louis H.

Erichs, 65, of 2530 Foster a veteran employe of the B. M. who died Monday after an illness of about two months. At his death Mr. Erichs had completed 21 years with the B.

M. T. and was in the stores division. He was active in the old Brotherhood of B. M.

T. Employes and a member of the Holy Name Socoiety of St. Rose of Lima R. C. Church, having lived in that parish until recently.

Many years ago he had been active in the old Brooklyn Rowing Club. His wife, Mrs. Josephine Patti Erichs, was related to the late Adelina Patti, the famous singer. Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Genevieve Ginna, Mrs.

Lillian Craig, Mrs. Prudence Chamberlin and Lavinia and Madeline Erichs; two sons, Louis H. and Vincent Erichs, and five grandchildren. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.

James Van Meter, Noted Inventor Los Angeles, Jan. 19 (AP)-James W. Van Meter, 67, inventor and veloper of mining and chemical processees used throughout the world, died of a heart attack here last night. He took out his first commercial patent in 1887. His inventions ranged from 8 process for hardmolded phonograph records to an insulation material for a Russian submarine cable in the Baltic.

He developed gases used in citrus grove fumigation and in the battle with boll weevils in cotton fields. After installing an oil flotation plant for separation of ores in Bolivia in 1902, he founded chlorine works in Germany and Argentina and aided in development Mexican quick -silver mines. In recent years he worked on a chlorocyanic gas process for gold recovery from low -grade ores. Sgt. Edward Taylor Dies in Florida St.

Petersburg, Jan. 19 (P)- Edward Marsnall Taylor, 56. retired sergeant of the New York City police, died early yesterday. He came here a month ago. Mr.

Taylor lived at 120-09 142d Jamaica, and during the last few vears of his service in the Police Department was attached to the 105th and 106th precincts in Queens. He entered the department on Nov. 11, 1907, was promoted to sergeant in 1931 and retired on April 4, 1935. O'Riordan Honored By Flatbush Group Lt. Patrick J.

Hogan Capt. Philip Smith, Was War Aviator Funeral services for Capt. Philip Durant Smith, World War aviator and former member of the French Ambulance Corps, who died of A heart attack Monday, will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in the Church of Our Saviour, Pierrepont St. and Monroe Place.

Captain Smith, who was 43, lived at 401 Grand Ave. Captain Smith was decorated by France with the Legion Honor Medal for his services. He went to of, mouth College in 1915 with France after graduation from other Dartmouth students as the result of a campaign at the college to place two ambulances in the field in connection the of the American Hospital in Paris. Upon this country's entry in the war, he returned here and entered the air service. Captain Smith was born in Brooklyn, the son of George William and Olive Durant Smith.

He prepared for college at Polytechnic Institute and was a member of Psi Upsilon Fraternity. At college he was a member of the track team and vice I president of the Dartmouth Outing Club. He was married in 1917 to Miss Helen Ward, who survives him with four sons, Ward Durant Smith, Duryea Durant Smith, Gordon Durant Smith and Robert Durant Smith. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Paul Ayres Rockwell, also survive.

Mr. Carroll, who was born in the Wililamsburg section of Brooklyn, was the son of Mary D. and the late Daniel Carroll. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of the New York Fire Department of Brooklyn and Queens, Isabella Counch 873 of the Knights of Columbus, Civile Post of the American Legion and the Woodhaven Post of the American Catholic War Veterans. Carroll. Ernest W. Larkin. Customs Inspector Ernest W. Larkin, 65, A customs inspector for the last 18 years, who served in the Navy during the war with Spain and the World War, died yesterday of heart disease at his home, 1252 Hancock St.

Mr. Larkin was a lifelong resident of Brooklyn. During the World War he served as an ensign in the transport service. He was a ber of Admiral Schley Naval Camp, U. S.

V. the American Legion, National Customs Association, the Customs Inspectors' Association and the Holy Name Society of St. Martin of Tours R. C. Church.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Kathryn Larkin, and a sister, Mrs. Albert Farrell of Detroit. The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. with a solemn requiem mass at St.
